I looked in my stash for fabrics with great "feel."  I'm adding Andover, Northcott, RJR, and In the Beginning fabrics to the thumbs up column.  Moda is always a favorite, too.

We're getting a long list of 'thumbs up' fabrics, but I'm also hoping to learn what fabrics to avoid.  Suggestions anyone?  Nana and/or Marlene - weren't there some brands you advised avoiding at Quilt Fabric Closeouts?

Nancy

I will give a big thumbs up to Northcott, In the Beginnings, Hoffman, and RJR fabrics.  I don't recommend buying Fabri-quilt brand online.  They make a good line but they also have a very cheap quality in one of their lines of fabric.  It is a brand that I have to see and feel.

Nancy there were some of the batiks from Connecting Threads ,that were very thin and hard to work with. when I went to the site to look for them ,I don't see these any more so they may have dropped them.

Thumbs up for:  Moda, Henry Glass, Benartex, Makower UK, Blank, Clothworks, Timeless Treasures, and Kona.  I'm not sure how to rate Connecting Threads but will say that I use it occasionally because the price is great.  Their Quilter's Candy line has a large selection of colors and I have used some Mirage from that line for a backing although it was a little stiffer than I like.  Someone suggested that the dyeing process may be the reason for stiffness.  I have used charms and yardage from one of their collections and they were OK but not the quality of any I listed above.   I can't give CT a thumbs down, but compared to the others, I would give them a half-hearted thumbs up.

I agree with you, Sheri.  I think their fabric feels thick.

OK - I checked our stock and we do have Studio E.  Fabric i found had a nice "hand" and good tight weave to it.  Some nice contemporary prints.  I would give it a thumbs up

I would also give a thumbs up to Lakehouse Fabrics.  We have several of their lines on the floor and they are very popular.  Very good quality. Thumbs up

The Riley Blake fabrics I found seem to have a looser weave to them.  Nice prints though so maybe a half-hearted thumbs up.

How about P&B Textiles?  I've bought some from the LQS and it's soft and smooth with lovely prints.

Nancy,

I forgot when I posted that you have a breakout category for batiks.  My Timeless Treasures fabric is batik from the Bali Pops line.  Sorry!
