Does anyone have the instructions to making the big ironing board? or do I have to buy it online?
Maybe it could be added to the "free pattern" section of this site.....
Thanks
Celine
Haven't seen this pattern but it sounds awesome. Will have to check into it.

Do a search on it - I think there was some talk about big ironing boards in June or July - but if you search for it in the little box up on the right side of the page you might find it.
I know that they sell them but making one your own specifications should be easy too - they sell the insulate that would work great on one.
Try searching on YouTube.
just ask martha.

Celine, I took a piece of plywood 22 x 42 and covered it with heat resistance batting and then some canvas fabric I layed it on top of two dresser that were the right height for me. The picture I have included was taken when I was redoing my room but you can get the idea. I have heard that if you make a small lip on the bottom you can lay it on top of your regular board the lip will keep it from sliding off. I think having it on top of the dressers takes up less space in my room.

Excellent idea;
the women on this site come up with very excellent ideas all the time. I am so proud to be among this company of wonderful quilters... and no don't think it is the fever talking...lol
Love the purple wall and your sewing machine wallhanging. Cheerful place to work...
Nana, thanks I love the color purple (youknow what they say about purple, it is suposed to be calming to crazy people). After seeing the photo online I'm embarrased that it looks so messy, but as I said it was taken during a remodel (that's my story and I'm sticking to it)

Gee maybe thats why I gravitate toward purple...i have an abundance of purple in my stash....always knew that I was crazy just didn't know it was justification for my fabric shopping.....honey I am running out of purple we have to replenish quickly before I go really crazy....lol
Celine, I bought the big board ironing cover and then had the board itself made. I had little legs put onto the bottom and little holes (OK, these are brass) drilled into the countertop. The board fits into the holes, but I can take it off if I need the counter space.

What a relief. I'm not a big fan of purple. That means I'm sane. Thanks Masufa.
