does anyone have experience making a tile quilt?

i think this is a technique that would work well for an art quilt i am planning, but i've never done it before.

Gini--I've never heard of it, so it will be interesting to see one.  I"m learning so much on this site, I can't believe how far my quilts have come!  I love the support that I get from all of you!

good luck on tile quilt.  right now my mq6 looks like it could be a tile quilt without the diagonal pieces.

Gini, I just Googled "tile quilt/images" and WOW it's a revival quilt, how interesting!  Can't wait to see what you do with this method.

Hi Gini -

I never made a tile quilt yet but this book is on my list to get :

Tile Quilt Revival: Reinventing a Forgotten Form                           (Jones and Finley are bringing back an old technique in Tile Quilt Revival. Applique is placed, leaving margins between the pieces like tile grout or stained glass. Think needle-turn applique or simple fusing. Lots of potential here. (American Quilt Retailer, January 1, 2010 )

Gini,

I've never made one but I agree that the technique will be great for art quilters. Some of the ones I've seen look like crazy quilts.

I think you'll do a great job with this. Looking forward to it.

Zsofia,

I've been looking at the same book. There's a trailer for it on C&T's YouTube channel.

I enjoyed reading this posting about tile quilts written by one of the authors of the book that was recently published...

http://carolgilhamjones.blogspot.com/

I see she teaches her technique at workshops.  These are very pretty!
