Hello, My name is Ann, and I've been quilting since 2005. I live near Houston Texas.  I have a Babylock Jewel Long arm, a Bernina 830, and a Janome 6600. I have been basically self taught, especially on the longarm. Once I lost my fear of it, I started to really improve. I'm about ready to do a feather boarder on a quilt. I've been practicing free motion feathers for awhile. I Love doing pantographs.  Fortunately I have not had any tension problems on the longarm. At present, I am freemotion quilting a Carol Doaks yahoo group Mystery quilt we did on my Janome. I'm having to use Black thread in the bobbin, and several different colors on the top. So far I have no dots on ither side, Yippeeeee!!!!!

Ann, welcome and enjoy!  Do tell what brand thread you are using in your long arm.  I'm doing the happy dance for you, no dots on either side is awesome.

Hi Ann, welcome to QCA.  This is a great group and I am sure you will love it here!  I just bought my 830 LE in early April, so I am in learning mode.  It is a wonderful sewing machine, but there is really a learning curve with the new threading and bobbin systems.  But, I love it already...especially the 12" arm!!!  My other machine is a Bernina 200/730E.  Sad to say, no longarm will fit in my house, so I settled for the 830 (not hard to do really).

Check in here often and be sure to look at the Machine Embroidery Group.  We would love to have you join us there!  I am currently doing a Hoop Sisters' Goose Tracks quilt...all done in the embroidery hoop.  I should be finishing it in May...I hope!
