I purchased "chalk ledges" from IKEA and installed them beside my sewing machines, over my ironing/cutting table and beside my super quilter. They are very handy to store thread, bobbins, scissors, pens, note pad, instructions etc. It allows me to use all my table space for sewing!
Great tip...Thanks Sheila.
Hey Sheila, Great idea, can you take a picture of it, by chance??
I lookied these up and love the idea. I'll have to think about how I can use them in my quilt studio.
Thanks guys; I'll have to ask my husband to show me AGAIN, how to put a photo on here. Sorry if I don't get to it right away; we found our neighbour on his driveway yesterday dead and we are helping the family. May take me a day or two to get myself back on track. God bless you all, and remember to make every minute with your family and friends count.
Well Sheila, that was a bit of a jaw dropping statement. I can't imagine what you and your neighbours are dealing with right now.
Sorry to hear that Sheila, what a shocker
I tried to find them on the Ikea website but couldn't find it. what are they called?
i tried, too, but didn't have any luck. Waiting to hear what they are actually called so I can see what they look like.
try searching for "picture ledge" I think this may be what she's talking about... looks handy, and a nice price.
Sorry ladies: They might be called a plate rail? I've had them for a long time. In fact, I had them in our previous house and brought them with me! I'll take a photo tomorrow and see if my husband will help me post it.
I also love your idea to store so many stuff keeping in just one thing. IKEA is a very huge resource to get lots of items with lots of varieties. I am waiting for your picture so that I can get idea easily and will looking forward to many stores.
Shelia, what a terrible thing to have happen to your neighbors . So sad, Had he been ill ? Barbara
EAT!! SLEEP !! QUILT!!
Barbara and other friends: Thank you for your concern. No, our neighbor had not been ill. He had a heart attack. Sorry I have not been on-line; I have really been sewing up a storm! Also, I forgot how to get onto this site. I spent a week with my sister quilting. I even sold one quilt, and now have several in a local store. As to the IKEA chalk ledge, they do not carry them anymore. I checked them out. They could easily be made; I'll get a photo and design the measurements for you. Again, sorry I haven't kept in touch.
Thanks for your tips. I am eagerly waiting for your picture about your quilt. You give me really nice idea related to quilt. I always follow this ideas for keeping lots of stuffs in just one thing.
