I usually hand tie my quilts and have such a hard time with proper lighting when flipping the quilt back and forth to make the knots. My husband gave me his "miner's lamp" head gear and it works perfectly. It is a little flashlight with a very powerful beam that is attached to an elastic headband. The light is directed exactly where your face is pointed - which is where your hands are working !!!
Great tip. Welcome to the group. I think you'll love it here.

hi grams, welcome to the group. this is a great tip. an acquaintance was using her husband's headlamp just the other day. they were staying in a condo and she didn't know what the lighting would be like. the husbands were out skiing for the day and the girls were quilting. i have a lamp with an intense light on the end of an arm. the light tilts up and down with a little handle. i'm short, so i can position it behind the couch, then drop the light part over my shoulder not too far away from my project. it gets a little hot in the summer, but i love it in the winter. anyway. i hope you enjoy visiting with us.

I have a clip on Ott light that I clip to my shirt for reading and hand work. I like the head lamp idea too.
Head lamp is a great idea. Unfortunately for me that would be a recipe for a headache, no matter how much I like the idea.
i was at our violin instructor's today and while wil was doing his piano lesson, i was trying to applique, her house is really dark. i remembered i had a clip on book light in my bag, hooked it on my shirt and it worked pretty good for a quick fix.
I used to have one of those lights. I wonder what I did with it. My late husband was a spelunker, but I just liked it so I could have may hands free when camping, and have the light where I wanted it.
