A frend of mine has asked me to make a quilt using her late husband's shirts.  Shirts are mostly cotton.

Any suggestions?

Sorry for your loss.  I know it is hard.   Hugs.

Judy Lee:

Hi Annie,

You could also use those same bricks and make a coin quilt! sounds like fun.

Okay, Judylee - I'll bite. What's a coin quilt? I've never heard that expression before.

Whatever you choose, I'm sure you will do it justice. When my mom died, I separated out all of her handkerchiefs to do a quilt out of but, they must have ended up in the thrift store bag somehow. While I'm sad that I didn't get to make that tribute, I'm also glad that someone else's mom probably got some use out of them.

A coin quilt is a simple quilt. Go to my Gallery. I have a Coin quilt there that is a UFO. Look at Jelly Roll quilt pictures or Christmas Quilt picture. I had no idea it was a coin quilt. I saw a picture of one somewhere and just made mine up as I went along.

I've made several now. . . just guessing as I went along.  There is now a book entitled "You Did What?!? With my T-shirts!!!"   It has some great suggestions and ideas.  Have fun.  You're a good friend!

AHA! I see how it could get that name! Thanks, Sukochi, for clearing that up. I haven't done anything like that yet.

I've done one,  and am working on another one.  See my gallery for the one "men's shirts & suiting"
