Ginny:

Gina, I love the way your quilt looks, of course I am partial to blue.  I like the way you did the backing.  That was a great job.  Looks like it will fit on my bed perfectly.  LOL     Ginny

Thank you, Ginny!  I wanted to have a nicer border, but got lazy and just wanted it done, so I did a real simple one, using some blue fabric from my stash.  I wasn't sure how the stripes would look on the back, but they do have the same colors as in the front of the quilt, so I am glad it turned out.  I bought 9 yards of that striped fabric when it was on clearance at Hancock Fabrics!  LOL!

Dara Beth:

Wonderful job on your quilt Gina!  I love the 'soft' look of it, soooo inviting.

Thank you, Dara Beth.  Yes, it does have a softer look to it.  Unfortunately, the colors are not my style, so it will end up at Kate's Closet in Princeton, WI, where I consign a lot of the things that I make.

You are lucky to have a Hancocks Fabrics around.  I think they closed up all of the ones in Michigan.  I used to like a lot of their fabrics better than Joanns.     Ginny

Yes, I have to agree Ginny.  When I lived in the Madison, WI area, the JoAnns stores were better than the one Hancock Fabrics.  Madison has a HUGE JoAnns store on the west side of the city and a smaller one on the east side.  I didn't care for the Hancock Fabrics there.  But since moving north a couple of hours, I am only 15 min drive from the Hancock Fabric in Stevens Point, and started going there a lot, then a JoAnns opened up a couple miles from there and I was all excited until I went a few times and they never had what I was looking for...I always ended up at Hancock!  But we are also pretty lucky to have a couple of quilt shops locally as well.  Antoinette's in Plover has gorgeous fabrics, and they are high quality...expensive, but worth it for some quilts.  And then there's Herrschner's in Stevens Point.  They just recently started selling fabrics, and I love their selection and quality as well!  I used to work for Herrschner's in the early 1990's...I never would've thought that by this time in my life I'd be into sewing/quilting, and going there as a customer for some of my supplies!

Well, here it is 2013 and I FINALLY got my MQ6 quilt all done.  I procrastinated on binding it because I totally dislike binding quilts.

Beautiful quilt Gina. I don't like bindings either.

Gina, sounds like you have quite a few choices for fabric in your area.  Guess I'll have to go on line and see if Herrschners has anything offered there.  Always good to find a new supplier.     Ginny

GInny,

I posted a long list of shops but the post may have been too long. Try this link for some neat online shops for fabric.

Here's her follow-up post where she added 30 more places:

I also recommend the QCA sponsors.
