I'm Zara from Austin, Texas and I have just finished my first quilt top. I have been a crafter all my life (painting, mosaics, embroidery) and have been a sewer for the last few years. I've been interested in quilting but was just so intimidated by it. I bought a batik jelly roll several years ago and have been staring at it since then. I was inspired by the beautiful quilts I see on Pinterest so I just picked a block and got started. While it requires attention to detail and a technique, quilting is much easier and way more fun than I ever thought it could be. I feel an obsession coming on... :-) I hope to meet others who love fabric as much as I do and see the beauty in deconstructing it and recreating it into another, even more beautiful form.
Peace, chocolate, and quilting,

Oh, Zara, have you ever come to the right place! Welcome to the club. Perhaps you could post a picture of your batik jelly roll project. We love pictures!
Just yesterday, I got home from a road trip to your beautiful state. We stayed at Lake Travis in Lago Vista. Wow, the water level was low!
I single-handedly saved the Texas economy when I visited the Creations quilt shop in Kerrville. What a beautiful store!

"feel an obsession coming on" Then it is already too late. The quilting bug has bitten and the only cure is to buy more and more fabric, notions, patterns than you can possibly use in 3 lifetimes. Then You have to spend time each day just fondling all the lovely fabric that you have obtained for your stash. Otherwise this horribley wonderful obsession can turn deadly. You will chock anyone that gets between you and the LQS. This is why that large stash is a must.
Welcome to the club Zara.
Hi ZARA! welcome to this site! You will love it here!
You've have definitely come to the right spot. Welcome and drop by often.
At first I was concerned that I seem to be buying more fabric than sewing quilts. But I quickly decided that that would be my contribution to the recession until I retired and could use all the lovely fabrics I have been collecting lately. So, I am a quilter on hiatus until next year. Welcome to our world.
