I apparently have a hungry washer and dryer, as I too always end up with a lot of missing socks.  I love the pin cushion idea, am always looking for somewhere to stick those pins when I get to the table or fabric wall or ironing board, etc.

Right now, I cut the sock open and use it as a 'dust rag' to keep my rotary cutting mat and area clean of those tiny little pieces that are trimmed off and have a stash of them by my sewing machine to get rid of those tiny little threads.  Use the inside of the sock, it works great!! :D
