When I need to tie a knot so it won't come undone, I use a 'surgeon's knot'. Picture tying a knot. You turn one thread under the other, pull then repeat, right? Well, Instead of just turning the thread under once, do it twice. On the 'repeat' part, do it twice again. It holds it tighter and won't slip.
Good tip Corky, thanks for sharing

Welcome Corky, are you an Eleanor Burns fan? That's where I learned the surgeons knot, she is so clever.

Welcome, Corky! Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from ? How long have you been quilting? Glad your here with us. Everyone here at QCA is just wonderful. Hope you enjoy your time with us. Susan, Jacksonville,Florida
No, not from Eleanor Burns (although I love her and respect her bunches). I taught medical assisting for 30 years and learned the surgeons knot through my clinical assisting prior to teaching. Handy knot and I use it a lot.
About me. Hmm. Well, been sewing all my life. Quilting for past 15 years or so. Now that I am retired, it is my main activity. I belong to many guilds, go to classes, retreats, etc. Have a huge stash of fabrics, patterns, magazines, etc. Trying to downsize it a bit.
I also embroidery and love to do hand sewing such as English Paper Piecing, hand stitching blanket stitch, crafts, etc. Want to learn to applique, haven't figured that out yet!
Married, 3 sons, 2 grandsons, one DIL, and a baby grand daughter due in April.
Glad to be on this site. Thanks for the welcome messages!
Corky, perhaps Eleanor has a friend in the medical field who taught her the knot. I learned it from her original Log Cabin book.
I leared the knot assisting the surgeons in ER for many years. Ginny
