Nancy, thanks for posting the pic's -- wish we had bus tours here.  I asked LQS about it once and was told that they have families.

Liz S. (AKA QCA Liz):

Hi all!

I have been catching up on news here these past few days. Hugs and blessings to all of you. So good to hear that Spud is still in good spirits and quilting. It has been a good week of quilting for me...I am still plugging away at the quilt I started at VB. It's really coming along nicely. You have all motivated me to make quilting more of my weekday routine and I am very grateful for that!

Today I went to our area guild's meeting for the first time in ages. They have been working on a huge appliqued raffle quilt - absolutely stunning. Gini, now I will HAVE to try my hand at some applique. And I'll post some pictures later of the work they have done.

I also did some sewing machine shopping today. Not ready to buy anything just yet...but I am getting closer to graduate from my "Baby Blue" to someting roomier that will allow me to play with FMQ and more creative stitchwork.

Just wanted you to all know that I am enjoying your virtual company and will stay in touch so you know how my quilting projects are coming along. Be well!

Nice to see you again, Liz!!! Good luck on your sewing machine research, there sure are a lot of them out there.

MNnancy:

Barbara comes to Brainerd, MN...

As you heard previously, Barbara signed up to be part of a shop hop, and Barbara never does things small.  This was a 3-day, 6-state, 14-shop bus tour!  She was due to arrive in a shop 25 miles from my home Saturday afternoon.  Her destination:  Country Fabrics & Quilts, featured in the fall 2011 Quilt Sampler Top Ten magazine.

Barbara's bus was expected at 3 pm, so my friend and I arrived at 2:30 so we could do a little shopping before 55 other women invaded.  At 2:45, Barbara called to say the bus was running about an hour late.  I let the shop owner know, and then we did a little more shopping...  :-)

At almost 4 pm, the bus was sited as it drove right past the shop...

It circled back around, and shop owners Deb and her daughter Steph prepared to greet the guests.

Somehow Barbara managed to be the first one off the bus, and the clicking of cameras began!

Barbara previously met my friend Terri at the Iowa retreat in September, so Terri was anxious to show her the stack 'n whack top she started there and had recently completed piecing.

Then we escorted Barbara into the store and asked her tour coordinator to snap our picture.  I received hugs from Marie, Nana, and Mary!  Thanks gals!  Look at how well Barbara is holding up near the end of day 2 of her trip.  I asked her if she had been buying much, and she replied "Don't ask" and just smiled.

We wish her continued good travels, and we applaud the efforts she is making to save the U.S. economy!

These are super, Ladies! So glad you had such a great time together!!!! What fun!

xoxoxo

Nancy,

What a nice shop!  Just the curb appeal would  have made me stop and check it out.

It was fun looking at the pics of the 3 of you.  Glad to know Barbara is helping keep the LQS in business :)

Nancy, thanks for sharing the pics of your "reuinion" with Barbara. It's nice to see you all together again - and in your natural habitat! LOL

Please tell Terri her Stack N Whack turned out great! I'm glad she brought it & we could see it completed.

It's been a busy week for me. We had our "all staff day" of training at work (all us library staff in the main library for a day of workshops), a hail storm on Thursday, a meeting for our local dog park, DH visited his BIL in hospital (quadruple bypass - doing well), and playing catch up with tasks around the house. I managed to get some quilting time in, though, and that sure was nice - worked on quilting Hannah's stack n whack.

So many people on here have been ill or dealing with family issues of all kinds. I wish you all some peace, health & better days ahead.

I know what I need to be up to today...finish some baby blankets.  My cousin's daughter just had twin girls delivered by C-section this morning.  Sounds like everyone is OK and the twins weigh near to 5 pounds a piece.  I've made the tops, but now I need to get the backs finished and them quilted so I can get them in the mail to her in North Carolina.

But first it is breakfast with the neighbors.  I might be saved from yard work today as husband had the wheelbarrow full of soil tip over onto this foot yesterday and it looks like he might have broken his tow...it is quite swollen and purple this morning.

Me, too! It's a treasure! And so are the ladies that made it!

Good Morning Ever'body! I hope you are all enjoying a pleasant Sunday.

Bro and SiL arrived safely last night. They got into town at the same time i was told to expect DD's bus so I asked them to pick her up on their way to the house... and hour and a half later the bus still hadn't arrived, but DD called to say they had made it to the county line (only 20 min out). *Sigh* This is why I hate extra curicular activities. The school isn't so good about keeping to a schedule. I find it very frustrating to be told to meet at a certain time and then have it scratched without notice, so I'm  kept on hold... in this case it was my sibs on hold. They didn't get here til after 10, and by then all anyone wanted was bed!

Bro has a very spoiled dog. She's a sweetheart but she just can't understand that we don't function on her schedule here. People are supposed to serve the canine! And kids are an absolute mystory to her. She tollerates them, but can't quite fathom what they are good for. She was up, pacing & whining, all night, and pitched quite a fit when hubby came stumbling it at 3AM

Sorry I was really tired last night.   Further to the conversation was that if they had tours one or more employees would have to go with the quilters and none of them wanted to put in extra time.
