Patti:

It is nice to be outside.  And working with DH is nice as well.  As long as he doesn't ask me to drive the big truck with the trailer on it.

Patti, be stubborn on this one.  I used to drive anything and everything around here.  I even put the first 6,000 miles on our first cattle truck myself.  It was standard shift with a 14 foot box.  When he decided to trade it in on a 16 foot aluminum cattle trailer, I put my foot down.  Backing the cattle truck was difficult enough, but I handled it fine after getting used to using mirrors.  A long trailer that likes to turn independantly of the truck is another matter.  I told him I would only drive it forward, not back it up and wouldn't even drive in traffic, unless it is an emergency.  I was the only one who backed our camper, so backing wasn't the problem---size was.  The camper was narrower and easier to see - I had to back it close to the eaves of the Dairy barn at our county fair, and did it better than he could!!

Enjoy your time with the trees.  There is nothing better than being outside around nature's beauty!   I sure enjoyed our find of the blooming cactus yesterday and hope to hop in the golf cart and explore some more today.  Flowers are farther ahead than when we usually come because of the early Spring which has even changed things here.  The leaves on the trees were more fully out than we have ever seen in the spring before.  Take your camera and show us any little bit of nature's surprises you find out there.  You never know what surprises are waiting for you.

Okay, why didn't someone mention that today was a stupid day to go to the Post Office?? About 700 people in line in front of me mailing their tax returns, and none of them were wearing smiley faces.

Nancy: It's such a pretty day!  Walked around the yard for a few minutes when I got home.  Here's some quick snaps for you to hold you over until you get home from VB.

First one is variated wiegela shrub, next two are clematis, and last is right out the back door--hostas, ferns, coral bells, foam flowers, and bird bath.

Sitting here looking out the back window watching the Attack Dove. She comes up and eats peanut chips and sunflower seeds off the wall shown in the picture above. She is so entertaining to watch. I have fed birds for YEARS and I have never seen an aggressive dove. This one has been coming to our feeders for two years now. She does NOT want any other birds on the wall when she is eating. Not even her mate. She puffs up, drops her wings down and out (like a mad goose), drops her head and runs at any other bird that comes in while she's there. If they don't leave she pecks them on the head and whacks them with her wings.  She really reminds me of an old farm goose taking after intruders!  I've even seen her go after squirrels that get too close when she's eating.

Lunch time!  Ya'll have a fun and quilty day!

Max, you have a beautiful yard - so peaceful looking.

What did I do today?   Arghhhhh.  Shampooed the living room carpet for the second time in 2 weeks.  Our 50 pound furbaby ate something that didn't agree with her on Friday so she did the booty-scooting dance all weekend across the carpet.    Yuk.   She is all better now but I think I'll be sick.  LOL    Maybe she's getting even with me for not sending her to the furbaby retreat.

Whoofta. What a day! At 10, hubby announced we'd take the new limo out for a little workout and buy the parts he needed to put the crib together (one scew and a cap nut are all that were missing!). Uh..Yeah.... Use 10 gal of gas to buy $.15 worth of parts? That makes good sense, don't you agree??

Anyway, he talked me into it after he promised me lunch out (Hey! I'm easy!)  So off we went. 7 hours later we're home. Lunch consisted of a boring deli sandwhich from the grocery store, and a bottle of flavored water. (We both forgot our fave place for lunch is closed on Mondays). The screw he bought is 3 mm too short, so the crib still isn't put together.

I splurged on a badly needed haircut while we were in town. The hairdresser didn't understand  the concept of basic measurments (Definately  not a quilter!!), so instead of 4" she took of about 7" (I have a lot ot spare) and I think her scissors were getting  dull, so I imagine I'll be back for a touch-up before too long.  But it's nice to be free of split ends, at least for a little while.

And...I still haven't driven  'my' new car more then a mile. I did get behind the wheel for a short stretch during the test drive... I guess I should consider myself lucky. LOL

CC, I hear ya about needing a hair cut, I have been letting mine grow out since last July when I decided to stop coloring it, mind you I started turning gray at 17 so i have been completely gray since my mid 30's will be 50 in July,  So long story short I am half gray and light brown, and it is driving my daughters crazy,, I think that's why I keep putting it off LOL :)

Maybe, If I put them to work cleaning the house to a high shine while they're here, it'll speed up that process??  :-}
Why of course you need the house spit shined before Sprout arrives.  After all - you won't feel like doing any cleaning for a while.  This is a super idea!!

OK! I'm really envious of all those beautiful blooms I see here.  I woke up to snow this am, and most of it is still there tonight at seven when I got home.  And I thought than spring and blooms were just around the corner.  The poor birds were so confused, all puffed out and with that look saying "What the €+^%#}}<^€"

So tonight I knitted a scarf an am debating if I should go to bed as I need to go to work tomorrow.

Goodnight all

Don't worry, spring is definitely coming!  Here in a very cold section of Washington State we still had more than a foot on the ground a week ago, but FINALLY it warmed up enough to melt about 90% of the snow and we actually have spring beauties (little itty bitty wild flowers) all over the place and the crocuses and daffodils are just popping up.  So, there is hope for you gals living further north.

Maggie, I've been doing the same thing. Indy has had the runs for 2 weeks now. Thank goodness I have my own carpet shampooer! All I seem to do is clean carpet. I'm ready to have it pulled out and have laminate floors put in. I came home from my uncle's bday party on Sunday to a mess on the kitchen floor...no problem. Indy was so happy to see me that he ran right thru it and it splatted all over the kitchen cabinets. Then he jumped up on me and he  had it all over hisself! So not only did I have to clean the kitchen, give the dog a bath, and then take a shower, then wash clothes. It's been like this for 2 weeks. My body is so very sore. Can't wait for  him to go to school next week!! My body can rest for a week....maybe even sleep! I had to call my cleaning lady over for an extra cleaning day because I just couldn't anymore. I am completely wiped out. Guess next time I'll let Indy go to the furbaby retreat if this is what I get for saying no. Yikes!!!

Hugs,

:(  I can't open the Beach Babes thread. My computer says it's "infected" and the virus program is blocking access.  *Sob* I wanted to see today's pictures.

I was supposed to take DS1 to his ortho appointment this AM, but DH had the day off so I made him do it. He's been underfoot enough lately that I'm starting to get crabby. 'Seems like I haven't been able to get a thing done for the last two weeks, and the way he worked out 'my' schedule for me, I won't get anything done for the next 2 either. I know he means well, but  I need a break!

I was so happy to load the fellas in the car this morning and set about re-arranging furniture (without expert help). I thought I'd enjoy the quiet while I putter about. ... Then the phone rang - a well meaning neighbor checking in on me to make sure I was OK. She saw the guys pull out of the driveway and was worried about me being alone... I finally got off the phone with her when the doorbell rang.  So, the house has been mine for less then 2 hours and all I've done is entertain well-meaning worry warts! You'd think no one had ever had a baby before!!  Ironically they all keep telling me to get plenty of rest. ...like I can do that while I'm playing host to them?? LOL

Ok... Enough whining here! I got everyone shooed out the door and by gum, I'm gonna enjoy my quiet!!!!!

Oh man CC.  Sorry you can't get into Beach Babes.  I have a lot of protection on this laptop and I didn't have any problems getting into it.  I wonder why yours is being so mean to you.

I haven't taken many pictures and I forgot to bring my downloading cord for the camera anyhow.  I am going to have Kris put all of her pictures on here before we leave the beach.
