I spent this afternoon sewing 2" Postage Stamp squares together into 5 block X 5 blocks that I will later join with sashing to make a kingsize quilt.  At this point there are no duplicate  squares, but as I get closer to finishing I may have.   I think I have about 30 of the blocks completed so far.  It is a slow process but will be a nice quilt for our bed.

so i 'm sitting here pondering, (never a good sign when my brain is working)     it seems to me that quilting is a lot like having a baby.

you start outt with great intentions to begin your little  family (quilt)   and things go well for a few months ( or they don't and you have four months of nausea, which is a lot like cutting out an entire quilt before you find out the directions were wrong), then you get slower and slower until by the last month you are waddling and can't wait for it to end, when will that baby get here? (  you have been working on this quilt for months and you can't wait to get it finished , will it ever be done),  then you have that beautiful baby and the forgetting hormones wash over you making all the pain and waiting just a hazy memory ( same thing must happen when we finish a quilt, the forgetting hormones wash over us and before you know it)   patricia is starting a quilt with a gazillion tiny pieces.  the good thing about babies  is, we can't start a new baby until we're finished with the one we're working on.  can't say that about quilting.

I like your comparison Gini but don't tell on me, I've got a couple of "babies" I stashed away never to be seen again.  shhhhh

I so want to make one of these but with my limited experience, I am scared to death to try.

this is so easy- fear not....just do 1/2 sq triangles according to color combos;

line them up L to R in order they are in diagram

sew together row by row;

then sew rows together

Easy Quilts has GREAT pattern in it called Josie's Star
