Jacy and Nancy

I have always had upper body strength.   It is developed quickly in nursing from pulling and tugging and turning patients and well as lifting equipment.  Not nearly as strong as I once was but I can still push and pull on the quilt once I have it positioned onto the table and machine bed.

Hi all. Hope everyone is well and feeling wonderful.

Yes I worked on a quilt today, and yesterday and the day before... I've just been working away until my heart is content... LOL

I've misplaced my current Black & White bom block have no idea where I put it... I remember seeing it but no it is gone. Oh well it will show up again.

So in the meantime here is what I've been doing besides waiting for another wonderfully warm sunny 70° day.

Then there is the little thing about getting a new roof as a very STRONG suggestion by the insurance company, so we had to refinance in order to afford it.  I remember in hs talking about inflation and the price of a loaf of bread being $2.00 someday, and all of us said No that could never happen... no sci fi on that one.

anyway, I'm finishing my mail then back to the sewing machine.

Great work all take care and I'll catch you all tomorrow The Good Lord willing and the Creek don't rise!

xoxoxo

Here is a project from a Half Yard Challenge Lock-In class I did last year (just finished this week).  We had to bring 5 different 1/2 yards of fabric and have them cut according to directions we were given.  We then had to "design our own layout".  I had enough to do two (table topper size).  The one I embroidered flowers on the solid lilac color because it looked too plain and the other I thought the green "slapped" me in the face whenever I looked at it so I decided to practice embroidery and FMQ on it making it a true practice piece.

Moomby, very pretty braid.

Beth an Nana, you are so far ahead of me in FMQ.  Great work!

I did discover that if I draw lines with the F&P ceramic pencil I can follow along and it looks a lot better than if I try to eyeball it.

Oh, Moom - sorry about the roof business. I'm afraid I'll be going through the same thing in the next few years. Trying to get the Kitchen done first, though. Seems like every time I think we're ready for the kitchen, some other emergency pops up. Eek!

Your SB Sue is so cute and love the "retro" look with the fabrics and the braiding is adorable! Keep up the good work.

Nana--

Terrific job on your latest quiltzilla!  You're so quick, it's probably finished already.  What's next?

Beth - Very pretty 1/2 yd challenge. I think you passed, my dear. The embroidery on the lilac squares is a perfect touch! Of course, practice makes perfect and you're doing quite well. I'm put to shame since I haven't even tried FMQ yet.

I worked on a quilt yesterday...although not on my sewing machine.

I have a friend who's husband is a police officer. She has collected 30 of his t-shirts (and t-shirts of his fellow officers...including one of my late uncle's) and asked me to make a t-shirt quilt.

My problem is that I'm struggling with the math. If I have a pattern to go off of, I'm fine. But figuring out how much I need for the binding, borders, and sashing has got me stumped.

I'm following this idea and making a full-sized quilt: http://www.goosetracks.com/T-Shirt%20Quilt%20Instructions.html

Any idea how much fabric I'll need for the BB&S? Because of the varying colors in the shirts, I'm going to make all 3 from the same material.

Thanks in advance! It's gonna be so special and I really want to make sure I do it justice.

MMM

Love the braid, was it difficult?  I think I saw that on F&P with Mary.
