I have a question for everyone.  It seems like I read somewhere in one of the threads that most quilters use white or gray thread.  Does anyone use thread that matches the fabric that they are piecing  the block out of??   Or does everyone just leave it to white or gray primarily.......

since I hand quilt,  I match my colors most of the time unless I have a color that will work for all of it.  Although I had an abundance of natural color and I am using it on my mariner's watch quilt.  You can see the quilting on the back since it is a red honeycomb.  But DIL to be  likes it.  so I guess it's ok LOL.

I do match when I am appliquing a block too Barbara.

There are just sew many different opinions out there.....I just do what makes me happy LOL

Kathy

I use a cream or grey for my piecing.   I use the cream when the majority of my fabrics are on the lighter side and I use grey when the majority are darker.   I use lots of varigateds for the actual quilting.   In my opinion you use whatever you like...LOL>

I have worked on a quilt today.  Finished putting the borders on my Sylvia's Bridal Sampler.  Now I am laying out applique to put on the right upper corner of the border.   Then I can set quietly and sew while I watch some TV or  movie.

Kathy, way back when I first started I tried matching fabrics, ended up with a whole lotta Guterman cotton and Sulky Rayon threads (always bought when it was 50% off)     Now I try to use either grey or tan but have been known to use any color that is close just because the thread is starting to age!

My name is Maggie and I'm a Threadoholic!  <sigh>
