Beautiful, beautiful. You all all wowing me!!
Got all caught up (except for April Hexies - don't like those!). Now I'm wishing I had put more thought into fabric selection. Not liking the scrappiness of it, but am learning a lot!

Patricia Faye, thanks. I decided to get my July blocks made while I had all the materials out. I'm getting ready to post them.
Thanks Marie. I started quilting about two years ago. The hardest thing for me is to select colors and prints that work well together and with the pattern. This quilt is going to be wild. I'm not sure I like it. When it is quilted it will probably look different.
Here are my July Blocks. I've always admired Dresden blocks, but thought they looked too hard to try. I was surprised to find how easy they are to make. I experimented with my decorative stitches. I didn't like the look or feel of the snowflake stitch around the outside of the modern block. It took too long to sew and the machine didn't like the thick seams. Also, it interferes with the spinning effect. I changed the background on the Dresden block. The applique piece didn't pop on the printed background. It will help balance out the blue in the quilt too.

JAP, love your Christmas fabric. So cheery
Here are my blocks so far. I can't find one of them, has anyone seen it? LOL

I hear you, Greg. Mine looks like a crayon box threw up, but it's too late to turn back now. But you have several blocks I like a lot! And the important this is that we're learning, right? I didn't want to do the hexies either... but once I dug in and got going I found I actually kind of like doing them! (The applique still isn't my favorite thing, though.) I'm looking forward to trying the rest - I figure I could use any of these blocks in whatever setting we'll be learning when we put these all together, so I'm looking forward to learning that and then taking my favorite(s) and making more quilts! I've got all of my downloads in a binder for easy reference.
If you don't like the scrappy, you can always re-make a few of the blocks and save your first ones for another project. I might do that with a few of my wilder blocks.
Everyone, has some beautiful blocks
