I saw this "Baby's First Christmas" pattern in the December/January McCall's Quick Quilts and thought I'd give it a shot for my nephew, expecting to be born in about a week or so.
I swear, each time I sew, I learn something new!
I haven't figured out how to post it in the Gallery yet - but I'm anxious to! My first one! Woohoo!
Since it was intentionally off-center, I'm thinking of having the baby's name embroidered down the side. Probably should have thought of that before I quilted it, huh? Lol.
And a closeup of the triangles...
Since it was for a baby, I did a 1/4" seam on the back to attach the binding, and then a feather stich to bring it around front.
Thank you SO MUCH ladies for all of your feedback and advice! I start my next one tomorrow! ;)

great pattern, great colors, great first quilt. Every time I sew, I learn more. Of course I figure out the easy way by doing the hard way first.
I see many great quilts in your future.

Fantastic quilt, and it your first try! Next thing you know you will be complaining that your fabric stash for quilts is taking over the house!

Congrats, Rachel. I remember how proud I was of my very first quilt. Then I took some lessons and learned everything I had done wrong. It was still a beautiful baby quilt and I wish I had taken a picture of it before sending it off as a gift. I've made many quilts now, but I still haven't finished the one I made just for myself. I'm still waiting until I get better at machine quilting.
