I'm wondering are wedding band quilts always stitched with a design in the middle and then a stitch in the ditch around all of the bands? Is there another way?  I was thinking of a long arm quilter for the bands, but the estimate I got was around $300.00.  Quilting a 108x93 is a little daunting!  Okay more than a little.

most of the time that's how they are quilted,   but, it is your quilt, you can do whatever you want.

You can quilt it anyway you want.  You could do a pattern in the middle with your DSM.  Its harder but it can be done.  Stitch in the ditch is appropriate for the rings.
