hope you had a wonderful holiday. I wasn't home two hours with my two boys (ages 18 mo. and 4 1/2) and I wished I was back at work. HA! What does that say when I would rather put up with 650 hormonal middle schoolers than my two?
I will be at a quilt show in March and am putting some DWR kits together. I did some research and found the most popular wedding colors for 2012 are powder blue/silver/black; lime green/pink; pink/brown; and blue/green. Can you think of any other colors that would look nice in a DWR? Most of my kits are small, less intimidating that way, I think.

I just finished one in batiks with yellows browns and grey-blues.
I don't have much experience with batiks--can you mix them with "regular" cotton fabric? or should my whole DWR be made in batiks?
If I was using batiks I would make the "ring" out of all batiks but the background could be anything. You can mix batiks with other cottons.
Rose, My experience with the DWR is that the fabrics for the arcs should have a lot of contrast so that you can see the individual pieces and that they don't blend right in to each other. The cornerstones should be either printed if the arcs are solid or solid looking - or a very deep contrast to the arc fabric - lighter or darker - the back ground fabric has to blend with all the other fabrics. I started a Double Wedding Ring Group here on QCA and you can visit and see what the quilters are doing. It is very interesting.

I love the block you made--can't wait to see the entire quilt. The kits I put together for shows are always small projects--I think most people are intimidated by large kits. If a customer at a show wants a larger project, we put several kits together and call it a day!
