Hello, I am new to this website and to quilting. My main question is what is the best thread to use in my machine to do quilting?
Thanks, Robinh in TX
Actually, whatever works the best in your machine. Some like cotton, some polyester.
Hi Robin. I agree with Vivian.
What part of Tx are you from?
CLEVELAND, TEXAS
Welcome Robin,
For piecing the quilt 40-50wt thread and for Quilting I usually start with at least a 40 wt thread. As for manufacturer, I agree that your machine will dictate what it likes and dislikes. My machine, BabyLock Symphony, Love Guterman and Superior threads but detests Coats & Clark.

Welcome, Robin! The best thread is what works in your machine, but the quality of thread means a lot. Gutermann, sulky, mettler are all good. Connecting Threads has essential egyptian cotton and polyester which is wonderful. I find poly works better for me on flannel. Try different ones and you will find some work better for you. Remember, if you want the quilt to last buy good fabric and thread. HAPPY QUILTING!!! Susan
