Sandy, since you've made a "sample" quilt from the MQ instructions, would you be willing to help out anyone who wants to cut their own strips by giving us an idea of 1) how many we need (40, 42, 44..) and how much value & color variation there needs to be? Sounds like this might be helpful to some people. Am I asking for the moon? Please tell me if I am. (I already have a jelly roll myself but there seems to be a lot of chatter about this already).
Thanks for leading us in another mystery quilt! I'm looking forward to this :-)
Okay you talked me into it, I know absolutely nothing about what you all are talking about, except we will be makeing a mystery quilt. So someone will have to inform me with all the instructions, other that I need a jelly roll (that is a roll of 2 1/2 " strips usually at least 44" long , if I buy will I also need to get coordinating fabric because I will be haveing to order online, no qilt shops within 150 miles of here. You will have to be patient with me as I am new at this. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All of your fabric requirements will be posted on Friday. You usually don't get your first sewing step until about 2 weeks after the requirements are posted so that everyone has time to get their fabric.
Daisey, you don't have to use a jelly roll. Sandy, just mentioned that this MQ would work good with one. You could just use scraps
Count me in Sandy!!! I jsut recently bought 2 batik jelly rolls from Richard and have been dying to use them up. Just wish I had gotten my top put together from MQ4. Everything is pieced I just need time to decide on the arrangemnt and sew them together. Maybe I'll get it together soon.
Oh wow! This sounds like fun. Being a newbie, I hope I can keep up with you all.
I love me some jelly rolls! LOL!
It is possible to the background and backing requirements a little early? Hancocks online is have a 1/2 price sale on baticks which is what I am making my MQV out of.
This is all I can tell you before Friday:
1. Yes, you can cut your own 2-1/2" wide strips. Just be sure they are full width of fabric - at least 41".
2. Pattern is offered in two sizes so number of strips required will depend on which size you make. A purchased jelly roll is large enough for the larger size.
3. Contrast is not all that important, but a mixture of lights, mediums, and darks will make for a more interesting quilt (more hints on that after the first set of instructions are posted).
Ok, now be patient. Only 2 more days until the full fabric list is posted.
YEA!!! Two days and counting. Thanks, Sandy. :o) Patience....patience....patience......... ;o(
WOOOHOOOO! I can't wait! I'm on pins and needles.....sew excited!
I am so excited!! not home until the 18tyh but can still plan
Count me in too! It sounds like fun.
I would love to get in on this!
So good to see you all excited about the next Mystery Quilt. I put a little teaser about the next MQ in the Mystery Workshop blog where all of the instructions will be posted (which you can find in the left sidebar of your home page) . If you haven't done one before you are in for a treat!
