Still working on DJ. I finally got the first installment of the BOM today. They sent the first 8 A blocks and 2 triangles. There are lots of words. Maybe tips for making them. Will tell you more on the DJ forums as I get through them.

Did a FUN AND DONE quilting class today... What a great technique... I think it can be done to any block as long as you realize there will be sashing between the blocks. I made 2 blocks in class then went home and made two more blocks.

I also got out some of my wonky blotto blocks put a frame around it then practiced doing Machine Quilting using Mary Mashuta's technique ( I have since bought her book, FOOLPROOF MACHINE QUILTING)  with contact paper as seen her on The Quilt Show ( sorry for plugging another on line quilt show, but I plug here to them too. )  I then used the F&D connecting techniques and it worked great. I have over half of a quilt finished in less then 3 hours.. It is great. I am able to quilt 2 blocks in an hour, attach them together and do the sashing sewing too. This is a fast and I think easy techniques.   Once you learn the techinque doing the original pattern you can use it any where.

I will post pictures when I am finished.

HAPPY QUILTING TO ALL!!!

Gini,

yes I'm doing a DJ BOM. I signed up at Stitchin' Heaven. I wanted to do their blue DJ but it is filled and now has a waiting list.

I tried Thea's suggestion of marking the squares, stitching, then cutting. Soooo much easier! The new - and improved - baby quilt is well on it's way. :-)

Nana,

the quilt made my heart melt which is why I signed up for the BOM. I started a year ago but since it was my first attempt at appliqué I got frustrated trying to find a method I liked. Now that I know I like needle turn I've decided to give it another try. It's slow going but I will finish. I bought a full kit as well so I could make another after I've had lots of practice.
