Leslie,
Me too. Just was about to get over a nasty cold and here it is again. The weather keeps playing. It gets warm....it gets cold....its rainy....its too dry. Geez.......I hope you feel better soon too!
Congrats to your DH on the new job. Apple Valley, CA seems to be a nice place (although it has been 30 years since I've been there so I imagine it has changed). It will be a big change from Montana, though. Very seldom, if ever, does it snow and as it is Southern California there will be lots and lots of people. Good luck with your move!
Margaret Weber:DH got the call from Apple Valley California and accepted the job there.
Congratulations to your DH Margaret. Good luck on the move.
gini: Spudgrandma: I made a Christmas table topper last year and quilted it on my brand new (last year) Fun quilter, now I don't have a clue where I put it. they are always in the last place you look

Funny how that works! :)
Life is like a quilt...bits & pieces, joy & sorrow, stitched with love
Merry Christmas everyone,
I will be heading to the airport in a few minutes to pick up a friend that I haven't seen in a year that will be visiting for a week so I probably won't be on line till after New Years.
First, Spud, it is absolutely wonderful to see your sparklingly green signature again. And to see you post again is fantastic.
Everyone that is sick, please, get well fast, you will all be in my thoughts and prayers.
Congrats on DH's new job! A new chapter in your life has begun-more friends to meet and of course more quilt shops.
Barbara-you gotta finish the teapot quilt -it is to die for. Whatever you decide on it will be beautiful.
Kathy-Your first quilt- OMG- Wow!- it is gorgeous. I will go ahead and put mine in the rag pile now. LOL I knew I shouldn't have been talking so much in beg. quilting w/ Donna.
PS. I have worked up a sample block for VA Beach retreat. Can you believe it? I actually like it.
As Nana would say, get cutting, get cutting! LOL
Happy New Year everyone. May you all be as blessed as I have been by having you as my friends.
Many hugs!
Marlene

Of course most people use the phrase to mean you find what you're looking for in an unusual place. Try looking with your Easter decorations (heeheehee)
Margaret Weber: Nan: Congratulations o n the job offer and impending move! You should look at this as a huge Christmas Blessing. How long do you have to prepare? What type of word does hubby do? Just think of the fun you will have discovering all the new quilt shops in your new area. I know you are both alittle scared of all the changes and work that will be needed but I be this is one of the best presents you will ever get. Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas. DH has some paperwork to do tomorrow and then hopefully we should know more. My DH is an electrical engineer and works for the Army Corp of Engineers. Right now he is the assistant area engineer and the promotion will be using more of his computer programming background. DH loves to move around and since I have only lived in Monana and three years in Tampa I am looking forword to the adventure. The only thing I don't like is having to find new doctors but it will all work out..

Margaret - check with your current doctor before you move...if you are seeing any kind of specialist he/she may have a recommendation of someone where you are going. Enjoy the move! My DH was in the Air Force (retired now for 13 years) and we did quite a bit of moving. Other than my growing up years this is the longest I've lived in one state let alone the same house! Though with 3 young GD's the thought of moving any time in the near future is a little bothersome. At least we could take our kids with us in the past. My DH is just finishing his 1st week at a new job after being unemployed for 8 months - there actually was a possibility of moving from Mn to Fla (weather would be nice but I also would have DR issues but considering how many seniors there are in Floria maybe finding a rhuematologist wouldn't be as hard as I imagine) . GOOD LUCK!
Yay! What a great way to start the new day! Spud's back and Margaret's hubby got the job!! Happy Happy!
Brother and his mutt arrived safely just in time to eat. The poor dog don't do so well with 13 hours in the car, but now that she's had time to stretch out her kinks, she's bouncing off the walls. I wonder what'll happen when she discoveres the chickens...?
Brother says he's taking all 3 kids to pick up their auntie at the air-port. That'll give me a few pleasant hours all to myself. What a great gift!! :D
I realized last night that I still have one more gift to wrap. I hid it well and forgot abput it... ARGH!
Today I'll make Lefse. I'm not scandenavian enough to do the Lutefisk thing on Christmas eve, but I'd never be forgiven if there wasn't potatoe flat bread on the table this week... Our Mexican neighbors said they'd be by with some homemade tamalies this week. My mouth waters just thinking of it! No one can accuse us of not being an all american family with an ethinic feast like that!! LoL All that's missing is chittlin's and schnitzel...
Quilters are people who strip so they won't go topless.
I love reading this page. Always lots of news from my friends. Jobs, better health, a break from the kids.
As for me, I am going nowhere today!!! Yeah! And I will make my last Christmas gift. A pillow case for my sister before she arrives.

CC, I never did the Lutefisk thing. Too much work and the taste is ach! Instead I always made Fiskeboller. Go to http://www.grouprecipes.com/27103/norwegian-fiskeboller-or-fish-balls.html for the recipe. It's a little more modern than I did. Everyone loved the fish balls.
Today I am watching the 3 youngest grands while mom and dad finish shopping. I have all my shopping done and a throw size quilt made for each of the grands. Think I will "hot fix" some sparkle on the girls' quilts before I wrap them tonight.
Oldest DGS (he and his mom live with me) will be going to Death Valley, CA for a 5 day BSA camping trip so will have the house to myself to quilt all day long! I have 3 bed sized quilts that need to be sandwiched so I can finish them up -- One for me, one for DD and one for DS and DIL. My Viking Lilly has a 7" throat so its always a challenge to quilt a large quilt.
To all of you who will be off the site for the holidays -- I wish you peace and joy and a verrrry Merry Christmas!!

You too Maggie, I hope you have the best Christmas ever!
Leslie :all I know for sure is I'm sick of being sick lol
You sound like my granddaughter. She said on Facebook that she was sick of being sick and now she is says "I have started to make my coughing fits into Christmas carols... I have reached the peak of insanity." She is 13 yrs old - missed the last few days of school before Christmas break.
