Well gang, here's the latest off of Queenie. A baby quilt that my daughter wanted to give to a friend of hers. I just got the Glide thread in & used it. It's awesome! I love the magna-glide prewound bobbins too!

I have been free motion quilting on my sewing machine for several years but my wonderful, magnificent, stupendous DH purchased a Handiquilter Sweet Sixteen sit-down in late April. I was so excited but have definitely had my ups and downs, mostly with tension. I am finding out through much research and experience that tension seems to change often, especially as the bobin runs low. That lead to the most wonderful find I have made since purchasing the machine. Magna Glide pre-wound magnetic bobbins. Just found out about them while in a quilt store in Colorado last week. The owner was awesome and actually gave me a couple of free bobbins to try. They are MAGNIFICENT (and no, I do not represent them). After spending literally hours trying to get tension figured out, and then hours and hours pulling out thread when the tension changes in the middle of the quilt, I tried one of the bobbins and then are awesome. NO tension changes and NO birds nests and NO thread breaks. And it was very easy to get the tension set to begin with. I have not tried the thread in the top yet; I am using my So Fine by Superior in the Top. I was able to use a Marine Blue on top and the Magna Glide white on the bottom with no pokies on either side. Got to tell you about this as I know many others have had these problems. There was a whole article about tension issues in a quilt magazine I bought while in Colorado. So.....check it out. My long arm experience is beginning to look up. I can see light and normality at the end of the tunnel.
Penney, that sounds like a match made in heaven. I don't have a LQS that carries thread but will try to find those bobbins.
Cindy, I love your monkey quilt.
Cindy, that is too cute!
Penny, thanks for the info on the magnetic bobbins...I've heard lots of great things about Glide and the bobbins too. Good to hear even more good things!
What a great monkey quilt!!! Too cute!!
