Hi Bonnie from another Bonnie!
It's funny how we all name our quilters. My Gammill is Lucille.....my granddaughter names everything and had named my car Lizzie and my gps Laverne so I got to thinking that my quilter needed to be Lucille....keeping with the "L" theme you know! :)
That is just too cute. :D
Hi amarillo50! Just wanted to let you know I'm not sure about why your tension issue would resolve itself, but you can always put a scrap piece of cloth on the edge of your batting and backing (in the overhang from the quilt top) and sew a bit to check your tension before you start your design. Then you won't have to rip stitches on your quilt top. But on the racing issue, I had that when I first got my APQS Millenium used (bought from the factory refurbished) and it was an issue with the circuit boards. They just needed a simple cleaning at the connections with a q tip and some alcohol and it's been fine since. If you call APQS, they will have a technician walk you through it on the phone, or help you troubleshoot whatever they think the problem is. They are really wonderful about helping you with machine issues and don't care where you bought it from. Give them a try. Hope it helps......Charlotte.
Jeanie, I love the wedding gift quilt. What fabric line is it? And I don't see a single thread on the wrong side, I wish mine looked like that.
I don't have a longarm machine, but am interested in following this thread because I'm hoping to take the rental class at a quilt shop near me and rent time on their long arm. I have lots of Linus project quilt tops I can practice. I used to tie the linus quilts, but I think they'll standup better if they're machine quilted.

The wedding quilt is from a jelly roll from Moda called Sassy. I bought it when I went to Missouri Star Quilt Co in May.

I rented a machine for a year before I bought my own last year. I think that is the way to go. When I actually got my machine, I was ready to go. Mi think I did 17 charity quilts the first week! I think doing charity quilts is the best kind of practice. You have a nice quilt to give away and you get lots of practice. I have at least 105 on hand right now!
Didn't quilt tonight. I got to watch my grandson while his parents and my husband went to buy a new car. This is the first time he has been to our house. He is such a doll!
Amarillo50,
Do you pull up your bobbin thread to the top hold both threads with a light tension, take a few very small stitches and then go into making your design?
Jeanine,
Ooooo I love the wedding quilt! Modern fabrics and the scrappy look. I know the newly weds will certainly get a lot of use out of this one.
Bonnie,
Welcome to the site. I have named my machine after my grandmother too, Martha Mae and I see you now have a name for your Crown Jewel. :-)
Thank you Ramona! I put the Micro Handles on CJ today and quilted my fall table topper. Had lots of fun!
I'm sure you had a great time and I bet it looks great! Share a picture if you get a chance.
Got the wedding quilt done last night. I am leaving for vacation for 10 days so don't think I dropped off the planet. Looking forward to some downtime!!
You certainly deserve the down time. Wishing you a safe and wonderful trip. Have a great time!!
Can we see? Please :D
