I guess you need to just love your mom for who she is and find quilts friends to fill in the gaps.  My mom and I have a " complicated" relationship but it is amazing how little the past matters when they begin to age.  I think I am at peace now and hope to spend the time we have left in a positive state!  Life is precious and too short sometimes.

I am exhausted and need to call it quits for the night.  My allergies have really been messing with me today.  I got five small quilts quilted for my quilt group.  Didn't feel like tackling a customer quilt with the way I feel.

Hi, my name is Maryellen, I'm new to QCA. I bought a Pfaff Grandquilter mid-arm about 5 years ago. After quilting my first quilt on it, I purchased a QBOT too. I thought this machine would suit my needs forever. The Grandquilter only has a 8" throat to quilt in, so any designs that are larger than that, I can not quilt. I would like to purchase another machine with a deeper throat space but I don't want to spend a lot of money after already purchasing the first machine. Does anyone know where there are used machines in the MA, N.H., ME, VT, RI, CT area?

Thanks so much,

Maryellen

APQS offers used machines and have dealers all over.  Look on line to see what they currently have.  http://www.apqs.com/quilting-machines-used/

Maryellen

Check Craigs List and also check with your sewing machine dealers in your area.

Maryellen,

Can't help you on your  machine search but I do want to welcome you to the site.  Be sure to set up your gallery. We all love to see what others are doing.

Jeanine,

Hope it's back up for you soon as I, for one, would love to see your quilts.

Welcome to the group MaryEllen! A couple of other places to look are: Longarm University & Hansons. They all have listings for used machines. One thing about longarms though, they don't depreciate like so many other things, so if you stumble onto a good deal, snatch it! Somebody either didn't know what they had, or they are really desperate to get rid of it!  I can tell you something else, the better machines only come up for sale because the quilter is moving up or they are downsizing for some reason.

OK...here is my quilts I've done since Sunday.  I am on a mission to get the 115 quilt tops done for my quilt group.  I did 9 so far this week...only 106 to go!

This one was not planned out at all and I actually was going to just do some simple lines but I just get pulled into the quilt sometimes.

It looked neat from the back when I took it off.

My mom did this one with very cheap fabric that was donated.  I think the quilting helped.

This one was made a little wonky but it quilted out ok.

This one was made much better and was easy to quilt.

I did succeed in keeping this one simple.

This is just a panel.  It had a copyright date on it for 1978.  I just meandered in the sashing and swirls in the background of the doll blocks.  I took a chance on a heart meander and most of the hearts turned out good.  Some, not so much!

This was one of my quilters variety of strip quilts.

And this one was scrap fleece!  Stretchy to say the least but soft and cuddly.

And the last one off the frame last night was the camaro quilt.  There was so much open space on this one I struggled to know how to quilt it so this was what came out...

I should work on binding these but I think I will at least do one more tonight to make it an even 10.

Jeanine I had to reread the 115 quilts you are planning on quilting.  Holy smokes, that is a lot of quilting!

Your quilting is beautiful!

Jeanine:

And my mom gave my dad his quilt.  He loved it!

Jeanine, great picture!  They look like two lovebirds enjoying that quilt!
