Hi Jeanine,
Very nice! I like the roses.

Jeanine,
Thanks for sharing a bigger picture of the quilt. I like her colors and your quilting just make that quilt PERFECT.
I got my hooked on feathers today. Now if I could find time to put a charity quilt on and practice. I am doing a KING size tshirt quilt now. Then I have four more waiting...then I can do my own thing...maybe.
Yippie! Glad you got your book. I'm sure your excited to get started on a the feathers. Look forward to seeing what you do. It'll be a while before I can get to practicing on a quilt. I've been away from my machine for 5 mths now and really getting the itch. I have company coming in when we get back up to KY and she is bringing 15 quilts (so far). Then we are going to TX for a bit. Don't know when I'll get to "doing my own thing".
I bet that t-shirt quilt is heavy. Biggest I've done in a t-shirt quilt is a double.
Ramona: I bet that t-shirt quilt is heavy. Biggest I've done in a t-shirt quilt is a double.
It is heavy and a little difficult to maneouver. I did another king size one last year, too. I am over halfway done with it so I should be able to get it done quickly tonight and I might sneak on a practice quilt just to play a little.
Sounds like you are busy! I would have withdrawals bad if I had to be away for 5 months or even 5 days! I am syching myself up for a 10 day vacation this summer... I will bring something to work on but it won't be Mabel! I am not good at vacationing but am bound and determined to give it a good shot this year. We haven't had a vacation for at least 8 years.
Sounds like you are certainly in need of a vacation even if your hesitant on leaving Mabel. All the ideas that will go through your mind while your gone. You'll come back all motivated with new ideas (to share). :-)
Great Jeanine,
I love my hooked on feathers book. I use my dry erase board to practice until I get my frame empty for my quilts. I don't do king size quilts because my room would not allow me to put my frame up to the 12 foot size. I did however do a queen size t-shirt quilt and the backing was stretch denim and boy was it heavy.
Get out your dry erase board and play with those feathers, you will be so happy that you did when you get to one of your quilts!!!!!

"Hooked on Feathers" is fantastic--easy to do and looks great without alot of practice.

I gave in and ordered the book this past week and got it Monday....have a customer quilt on the frame right now and excited to start practicing the hooked feathers. I've been doodling all over any paper at all!
Congrats Bonnie!
Isn't it funny how they get easier and easier! Have fun!
Thanks Judylee!
It is funny how much easier they get! I love how they look right even the first time trying! Thinking of using some on my Underground Railroad quilt when I get that on the frame. It's exciting to think of the possibilities!
I, too, ordered the book and can't wait to try this method. I'm going to be brave and try it on the mid-arm and frame on a practice quilt first, but it doesn't really look like you can go wrong. Thanks for recommending this book!
Well, here is my weekend's work. I had such a problem with both of the "jungle" quilts for some reason. Had to tear out and redo three times due to bird's nests?? Anyway... I persevered and finished them. Then I did a customer quilt with no issues. Whatever!
Two more beautiful quilts by you! Great job. These will be so loved.
Jeanine, beautiful quilts!
