Thank you so much Vivian!
Did it work for you? I logged on and there was nothing happening.
OK, I'm coming into this discussion just a little late. I don't have time to read all the posts out here in quilt land, but now and then I find something new.
I have been quilting on a Tin Lizzie 18 for 2 1/2 years. Before that I had a Juki TL98Q on a Gracie frame for about a year. I previously had an embroidery business, so even though I do not do quilting as a business, I am familiar with the business end of things. I cannot even begin to tell you how many quilts I have done on my Tin Lizzie... probably more than 100. My husband often observes as I quilt and makes assessments on how I can do things easier and/or better. He was the one that decided I needed a machine with a larger capacity. I was able to sell my Juki/Grace setup, but I really hated giving up my TL98, so I bought a new TL98 to have on hand. It is a real workhorse. My Tin Lizzie is also quite a workhorse... no bells and whistles.. just good solid machine that can do just about anything I want it to. I do alot of pantographs, but I held onto the design boards that I bought for my Juki setup and my husband added a stylus attachment to my Lizzie so I could still use those boards. I do alot of meandering, but have worked with rulers, stencils and templates. I've tried lots of different techniques, but my favorite one is pantographs because I can sit down and roll behind my machine. Anything to get off my feet.
Just wanted to jump in here and add some of my info. I am sure there is alot to learn from all the experience out here.
Welcome Grandma Sal - where is your favorite place to buy pantographs?
Charlotte Casey:where is your favorite place to buy pantographs?
I have bought a few at various places, but as a rule I find an element in the design of the quilt fabric or a theme and I create my own. We have a CAD cutter left over from our graphic design days and we can take the blade out and put in a pen and then we can draw our own pantographs.
Wow that's great - impressive!!
Welcome Grandma Sal,
The more the merrier, we are all learning and sharing so much!
Judylee
Did a quilt for a customer Friday. This was her first quilt made for her son who goes to ISU. I think she is already getting hooked on quilting so I look for her to have more quilts in the future!
Hi Jeanine,
Your qulting looks great! The quilt is nice too, LOL! What stitch length did you use? It really shows up nicely.
Jeanine
Great quilt and a beautiful quilting job.

Judylee,
Great job!!!!
Hi RamonaC,
That really great quilt is by Jeanine, not me! I can not take the credit. LOL! She did a wonerful job on it. I was curious what stitch length she had her machine set at? Really nice stitch quality!
Thank you Judylee for keeping me straight. Let me try this again. LOL
Jeanine,
Your quilting is great on this quilt! :-)
Judy Lee:I was curious what stitch length she had her machine set at?
I usually use around 11-12 stitches per inch. Sometimes I'll go to 10. I don't like big stitches because I think it doesn't look as professional. That may just be me.
RamonaC: Jeanine, Your quilting is great on this quilt! :-)
LOL It is easy to get confused on here sometimes!
