Hi all,

I am entering a quilt show for the very first time.  I am entering my MQ4 quilt.  My question is... how the heck do you come up with a name for your quilt??  and a description/explanation?  I am at a total loss in this area.  Any help you can provide would be great!!

Cathy, What lovely, relaxing colors you have chosen.  I was reminded of the night sky when I first saw your quilt.  What made you choose those colors?  What do you think of when you look at your quilt?  Who was the quilt made for or what occasion?  Any of those answers could give you and idea for a name for your lovely quilt.  Hope this helps:)

Cathy

Remember that you also need to credit the pattern designer and the original name of the pattern.

I knew I could count on this group to help me!  Thanks so much for your replies.

Nana,  I will indeed credit the pattern designer, thanks for the heads up on that!

Sheri, I love the spinning star idea - I just may use that.   :)

Alice thanks so much for your explanation and questions.  Very good questions to ask myself.  I am going to write those down and keep them for the future as well!

All three of you have helped me so much!!   Now if I could just get in gear and quilt this thing!  Any ideas on quilting would be welcomed!!

What did you call it in your mind while you were making it?  I've always found that influences the names I've given to my quilts.  What's the pattern called?  Maybe you could make a mix of the 2 - your name for it and the pattern author's name for it.

Since you have the small darker squares cutting through the pattern, and your kitty at the top of this "path", how about "Kitty Corner"? That will make it mysterious, and people will want to know!  :D

Thanks everyone for the great ideas!!  I am really learning about how people name their quilts.  I wish my brain were more artistic!!

Barbara and Joni, thank you so much.  This was my first mystery quilt and I am just thrilled with the outcome.  Thanks go to my LQS who helped me pick out the fabric and Sandy from QCA who moderated and chose the pattern.  :)

This place is great!!
