Hello Everyone! I am new to this group, but I started quilting back in 1970's. It was not popular then and I only had a yardsitck and a pencil and a scissors, but somehow I managed. Quilt patterns were difficult to find and had to be drawn from scratch unless found in the back of the clothing patternbooks with accessories and kitchen items. If one was really lucky, she had a family member who quilted and knew where to order them. When I discovered the clear plastic straight edge ruler I thought I was in heaven and the rotary cutter proved there was a God. We've come a long way since then. I now teach sewing and quilting lessons and just opened up a custom sewing and quilting studio specializing in quilting with recycled fabrics such as wools, drapery fabrics as well as used clothing, I continue to do alterations and mending for people if I am able and also make clergy vestments and worship paraments when the opportunity is offered to me. For all of the things I can do, I still love to help newbies learn, sometimes more than I really like to do it myself.
Welcome to QCA. I've only been here a few days myself, and found it to be a great place to explore and share ideas.

Welcome to the group Debbie.
Hello Debbie. Welcome to the group.
Thanks for a peek at the past for some of use who haven't been quilting very long. I don't think I would have enjoyed it nearly as well back in those days, but it's good that you persevered.
