The theme of episode 7, the January 2010 "Quilt Out Loud!" episode is organization. It all started when Mark visited my house and I told him my husband thinks I am totally disorganized. From there we came up with an entire show idea and a challenge to put this slobbiness question to rest once and for all. But I need you help.

Honestly, I believe my husband thinks I'm a slob. It didn't help that the ONE quilting friend we have been to visit together does hand applique and hand quilting. Her sewing room looks like a living room! No ironing board set up, no cutting table never mind the clutter atop it, and she has only a small stash neatly organized in a huge closet. She even keeps her sewing machine put away! That's easy when you do everything by machine and it takes you over a year to make one quilt!

Now, WE as quilters know how most quilters are--what is normal and what is not (see above, sorry Carol). Let's create a virtual visit of regular quilters' sewing spaces to show my husband what it means to be a REAL quilter.

Take a picture of your sewing area--as it is RIGHT NOW, NOT CLEANED UP--and post it in a reply to this forum thread. Then, we can see just where I fit in. And you too :)

Thanks for your help!

My sewing is spread out in 3 rooms most of the time.... LOL

I'll think about posting a picture of my actual sewing area...

LOL Gini!

I had to post this early since I'm shooting a video from my sewing room for the episode. The kitties have been obliging in a major way. The two boys playing is too cute. The video is too long--3 minutes--so I hope the producer doesn't insist I shorten it. The kitties must remain!

P.S. I had to take a lunch break. Needed to get a close up of my screen for the video. But there was a big pushy tail hanging down. Couldn't move the tail, and wasn't about to move the cat!

Jodie,

Your sewing room couldn't look as bad as mine does right now. I usually clean up when I'm done but this is the state of affairs right now. I am so ashamed:

Here's mine. I usually don't have things sitting on the counter, but, there they are!

OK Judy,

you need to go mess it up a bit then take another photo. LOL.

I think we should change this thread title to "Kris is such a slob". LOL.

Your project looks good BTW. I take it that that's "Stupid Quilt".

ROFLOL! This is about as messy as I can stand. I know it's crazy, but I'm so into having space that I want it to be clear space. Weird, huh?

Yep that's Wheels In Motion formerly known as StupidQuilt. I was going to mention in my message that you could see the actual colors of this thing, but I forgot. Oh, well.

Judy,

I see you're feeling better about that quilt now. Good deal.

When I'm working I get caught up and things go flying. i didn't realise how bad it gets until I took that photograph. Oh my goodness it looks my room threw up. I'm going to perform an exorcism when I get back from work tonight.

DH never commented on the mess.

Nope, not quite as bad as yours Kris. And still, I'm not cleaning up. I am going to get a half hour of sewing in instead!

Oh Judy you put us all to shame. But then again, when I have such a beautiful space as yours I'll be neater too!

Judy I'll have to figure out where to put the camera while I work. Maybe I could strap it to my head, give you a bird's eye view.

LOL.
