Hi there,

I have a question about borders. Do they need to be the same on all four sides or has anyone ever made the side bigger than the top and bottom or vise versa??

Sorry, I just realized I posted to the wrong forum. I will repost in the questions section.

cheri this works.   i like making asymetrical borders.   sometimes i use them to get the quilt to the size i want.   that means the top and bottom, or the two sides need to be bigger than the adjacent sides.    i also like to make asymetrical applique or piecing on the borders.   sometimes i use different colors on the border to balance the colors inside the quilt.    gini

Like Gini I have also made the borders a different size, usually when I need the quilt just a little longer top and bottom.

My French Garden quilt has no boarder on the top and the same size on the sides and bottom.  I would have no problem making them different if I needed to.

Depends on your finished look.  I have done it with multiple borders same on all side. and also prairie point on top and flat border on the 3 sides.  Ended up looking like a birthday cake.  Cute for a little child.
