Jaci,

I'm origianlly from Chicago IL, my Mom was from Lublin WI & Dad was from Chicago, so when Mom moved to Chicago & met my Dad, got married & had 3 kids we moved to WI so I have been here for 40 yrs (giving my age away?) I met my hubby on the route school bus & the rest is history. We have been together for 40 yrs & married 37 happy yrs, 4 daughters, 4 son-in-laws & 6 grandkids whom I love very dearly. Infact the older grandson is the quilter & now he wants to learn how to embroider. I told him to draw something, he did his house so now I'll retrace it for him to stitch to make a pot holder for his Mom for XMAS. This is what has to be done for the young so they can remember & hopefully take it with them when they go off somewhere I'm so very proud of him.

Grama Chris,

Streator is where I was born, then the US Navy took me to Florida, Mississippi, Maine (where I married my DH), Iceland, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Southern Pennsylvania, before we found our way back home to Illinois.  God only knows if this will be where we stop, but it has definitely been nice being close to family for a while.

I have 2 kids - DD is 21 and DS is 17. The nest is quieter than it's ever been.  Both kids keep their belongings at home, but they are only home to sleep...LOL!

Council Bluffs.  What part of Omaha are you in.  I'm right over the river into Iowa and work in Omaha.

You don't mention casinos to Omaha people...  There's a little tension there for some I've found since Nebraska can't have casinos and they don't like their money coming over into Iowa.  So let's keep that one quiet.  LOL

Saw your message on my "Where Do You Hail From" on email.  They just started coming after I registered.

I am a widow with 4 kids and 4 kid-in-law, 12 grandkids, 1 great-grandkid and one great on the way.  This summer my 8 year old grand-daughter came over and said she sure would like to make a quilt.  What to do that would be easy for her since she has never sewn in her ife.

We started out by her sitting on my lap so I could closely supervise and practiced sewing straight lines, general running of the machine and safety (no sewn fingers.)  Then I got out my tub of scraps.  I told her we would make a scrap quilt, but the rule was she could not look at the fabric when getting a new piece.  She just had to shut her eyes, I would stir the fabric and she would pick.  We had a great time.  Since your grandson likes to quilt, he could make a scrap quilt and some of your scraps could be used up.  (To make it easier for her, being her first quilt, we tied the quilt.)

Linda--

What a fun day!  I love working with kids and quilts.  They get so excited and feel so proud of their accomplishments.  Hope yo get to introduce more of the GKs to this great craft.

Welcome, Paula.  I'm from Kansas City but live in Council Bluffs now.  I loved that quilt shop in Liberty by the barrel shop but I think it is closed now.  Are there any quilts shops left in Liberty?
