I have been having trouble with my square up ruler slipping, because money is tight I haven't been able to buy the grip adhesive that is sold for clear rulers. But as I was cleaning up after dinner, I noticed how the cling wrap stayed stuck to the kitchen counter so I decided to see if it would help my ruler grip better. I applied a single layer to my ruler and trimed it up with a rotary cutter. I have been using it for a day or so and it works great. It does cause a little glare and I can see it will need to be replaced periodically but it will definitely help until I can afford something better.
Great tip Megan, thank you.

Megan, I had the same problem. At a dollar store, I happened upon a roll of shelf saver liner material. It is like rubber screening, the best way i can di escribe it. I just cut a small square, maybe 2" X 2"... I just lay it on the piece of fabric to cut, put the ruler on the fabric and the ruler does not slide at all... the piece of liner is so small, it does not hinder my view of the fabric or the lines on the ruler.... It is inexpensive, and a roll goes a long way.... I've been using that for other a year now and could not cut without it...

I'll have to try this Pat. I already use it to keep my foot pedal from migrating all over the floor. And I actually use it on shelves in the kitchen. Now there's a novel idea. :o)

Yep! That liner is awesome! We use it for shelves, foot pedal of machines.
I also use it to keep rugs from sliding and to keep ottoman cushions from sliding off their rattan bases. It is great to use to keep planters from scratching floors and glass shelves and table tops. I put it under my sewing machines and serger to keep them in place (from traveling). Guess one could go on and on forever. It is like duck tape, has many uses.
Megan I am going to try the cling wrap also for cutting fabrics, sounds great!
