I like the second one. The first one is very pretty too, but the design in the second fabric may get lost when it is cut up into small pieces. It is kind of hard to tell when it is folded up. You should use your favorite one though. This is the beauty of MQ's. We aren't really sure how they are going to look.
I like the second choice better, I think it will look great in a quilt. All those rich browns together make me think of chocolate ice cream sundaes.
I love the browns very much. So very warm and comforting. Also like the first one, but the browns are on top. Ginny
I like the brown fabrics - but I only see 3 - have you found the accent fabric or am I looking at this wrong.
I am looking through my stash and need to go shopping - I maybe have only a medium-dark, but nothing else that goes with that. I am new and have noticed that most people are using one patterned fabric (usually the med. or med.-dark) and the other are tone-on-tone. I am very excited about joining this group - I have been waiting for it to start. I am not sure how to even respond - think this note might show up on the blog area.
Looking forward to getting my fabric and to the next step!
I love both combinations, but really love the browns. I agree with the "chocolate Sunday" analogy. :)
There are 4 fabrics. The chocolate brown that all the other fabrics sits on is the 4th fabric. I like those too, but I think I might just use them as the second quilt I'll be making. I am also very new at this so I am reading and listening to every one who is willing to part with their wisdom.
Finally finished cutting all my fabrics. I have 2 kits that I am cutting also this week and trying to finish a scrap quilt that I finally found my pattern for again !!! phew!! ;)
Thanks so much for your opinion. I helps me get my feet wet in this first MQ ever for me!

Okay, having given up on my stash, I drove 90 miles to one of my favorite quilt shops and picked up these five fabrics. The floral is for the border. Is there enough contrast between the green and the red? (The light is actually more yellow than it looks here.)

This is my first MQ, but I'd say the contrast between your red and green is good. I love these choices. It's going to make a gorgeous quilt.
I like your fabrics Nancy. Like the new avatar too.
I like the fabrics too! I think there's enough contrast and I really like the floral!
I like your choices - driving 90 miles was worth it! I'm excitied - I want to shop tomorrow! I have to wait till the boys are in school - they get jealous when I want to spend my time sewing / shopping for fabrics.
Love your fabrics. I think there should be enough contrast between your red and green. Very nice choices. Really cute avatar too.
Here are my fabrics for MQ4. I don't know if my med dark and dark are too close together or not. I can't find anything else I like. I need opinions.
I don't know. They are beautiful fabrics but the two are awfully close. Hopefully Sandy can help with this decision. Did you post in groups so that she will definitely see it?
Just my thoughts ... You could find something lighter than your current light, a solid or tone on tone that compliments the lights in the paisley/floral print. Then you could take your med-dark out and use it for a border. Then you can still use all the fabrics you really like.
