I've been quilting for several years. Finally bought a new machine last year and the quilting frame. I've made several quilts, but yet haven't been able to figure out how to quilt on the frame. That's what brought me to the Quilter Club. Hopefully I will find tips, tricks, and help to use that big frame.

welcome to the group.
I have a Babylock QCP on a New Joy "Magic" frame. It works well for me. I would advise you to get some good leaders. I bought pre-made ones from The Grace Company. It sure makes it easier to line up the quilts when loading them onto the rollers.
Practice a lot. I dove right in and quilted a large quilt for my first try. If you're not feeling that brave just make some small sandwiches and practice on those.
QNNtv has a show called "Quilt It" if you haven't yet you should check it out. It's a longarm quilting show that features different longarmers that provide great tips.

I have no idea how fast to go.....can't seem to get the speed of the machine in line with how fast I need to move the machine....it's been a sew and stop, tear out the stitches, and try again.
I made some leaders, and they seem to be fine. My frame is a Little Gracie. I will definately check out the show. Thanks so much for the tips.
It takes practice to get the speeds together. Make you up a practice sandwich and start playing. It won't take long to figure out how fast the machine needs to be to coincide with how fast you move it. But it does take practice. Just play, relax and have fun.

Something else to check out, Grace makes a stitch regulator that will work with most machines, that might help with the speed thing.
There's also a Quilter's Cruise Control to help with speed. It's not a true stitch regulator but it does help.
