  • Deer Hunter's Widow

Here I sit at my computer typing a blog post, while my husband has ventured a little further north and west to a family hunting ground. There, he will spend the next few days sitting in the woods and anticipating a chance at shooting a buck. I don't much like having him away, but I will survive....

  • Arizona or Bust!

Dear Readers, God does answer in His time and today was His time...after I spent most of the day in ER. I normally go to Arizona January thru April. However, it appears I'm not going to recover from this asthma unless I remove myself from the Ohio climate. Soooooo, I've checked with my friends...

  • In Our Temporary Home

For now construction is done. Photographer I'm not! I love all the natural light in my sewing room, but when it comes to photographing the room all that light is not a good thing. Where's my photographer friend Sheila when I need her? Oh yah, she lives in Arizona! Darn! Meanwhile I have too many...

  • A Learning Process

Ok I've learned that in this particular blog scenario I can't change the main text color. I will have to take some new photos of my sewing room at a different angle so we aren't seeing all the windows. This way you can see the new layout too. Meanwhile you are seeing my sewing room as it...

  • Singer collection grows

Today, I acquired my Grandma Smith's Singer Athena 2000 that she purchased in 1977. I bought it from my uncle, who closed on the purchase of her home and is trying to clean out the house. I found the actual purchase receipt that indicates she paid $1039 for the sewing machine, along with a wooden...
  • More about quilting books

Now that I've gotten started on books, you may recall that I indicated I am a list person - OCD stuff - and have a list of all my quilting projects (see blog post on 7/29/11) . I also have numerous quilt books and they are organized, alphabetically, by author, on shelves in my sewing room. I began...

  • Organize your fabric!

Fabric Organizers In our June/July issue we reviewed fabric organizers designed by DeNiece Herrod of DeNiece's Designs . We think these are a cool way to organize your sewing room. The smaller “bolts” hold fat quarters and small yardage and retail for only $1.09 each. The larger ones...
