My Singer Treadle !

This sits in my entry way and I have not used it but one of these days I'm going to see if it works. It appears to all be there. My mom used to have a treadle and I sewed on it when I was first learning how, so I would love to get this one going.

What a beauty! can you just imagine the thrill of seeing these for the very first time. I bet there wasn't a seamstress around that didn't just pine to have one.

What a beautiful machine would love to own one .

My Mom had one when I was a young girl.

Take good care of it.

Your right Stephanie I bet it was a big deal to get one of those.  And the machines we are using today won't still be running in 100 years like these are.

Thanks Anita.  My mom had one also but she got rid of it somewhere along the line. It would be better to have the one my mom had but this will do.  LOL

Looks like the leather belt from the hand wheel to the big wheel below the table is missing.  You can get these off ebay...or do a web search for treddle sewing machine belt...and several shops come up.  They come with instructions & the staple to join the leather into a belt..easy to do & with a bit of adjusting..you can sew when the electricity goes out.

Thanks for the info Marge.  There is a cord in the table that I think someone used for that purpose but it is broken and I could not figure out how is was supposed to work, it looked too narrow. I will have to look for the leather belt and see if I can get it going. I also need to check and see if it even has a bobbin but the rest of it looks to be intact.
