Spudgrandma's Thoughts on Quilting & Life!

CAUTION - Rant Follows!

I have spent the day trying to get the windshield replaced in my pickup and I'm so frustrated. I hate dealing with businesses, it seems they are all alike. First you go through the if you want x push 1, then you push 1 and you get if you want x push 2, you get  the picture.  I finally have the appt set and they are supposed to come here to replace the glass, then I have to take off and go to town and get the oil changed and pick up a few things.  I still have to get the PU cleaned out in case I am leaving it tomorrow when I pickup the new car. It needs the cruise replaced, part of a recall (another story, another rant LOL)

I have not sewed one stitch today and I'm grumpy, really grumpy.

Hopefully your auto insurance paid for (or most of of the cost) the new windshield.  I learned I didn't have a "safety glass coverage" on my insurance the hard way.  I returned from the AQS Knoxville show with an 18" crack the windshield of the car I'd had less than 3 weeks.  Seems I was hit by a rock in just the right place where the windshield hits the roof line.  I was devastated.  I was doubly miffed when my insurance company told me the usual deductible applied to my windshield replacement since I didn't have the safety glass waiver.  That meant the windshield had to come out of my pocket.  Fortunately, the body shop at the local dealer from whom I purchased the car was willing to share which subcontractor did their auto glass work.  I wound up paying about 1/3 the cost of having the dealer install it.  It took about an hour to replace the windshield and they came to my house.  Couldn't drive for about 2 hours after the installation and no high pressure car wash for 48 hours.  Can't even tell the windshield was ever replaced.

Spud, sorry you had such a hard time today. Trying to get service can be really frustrating these days. I spent my morning waiting for someone to come look at my washing machine but no one showed.

Hopefully you can get to sewing soon.

Thanks everyone, I am feeling a bit better. I have a new windshield and he came out here, I'm a good 25 miles one way from the shop.

I still have to go pick up the care tomorrow and am now waiting for the dealership to call me back and tell me if I'm leaving the pickup to get the cruise replaced. I guess since I bought the car he is not as anxious to return my call, so much for customer service.  Did I say I hate dealing with businesses?  LOL

Kris, I'm so sorry your repairman did not show, I would really be jumping and have BP through the roof, did they even call with an explanation?

My insurance did cover all but the deductible and yes rants are good. I just may have to have another later  LOL
