Question 2: Why should you sew scant quarter inch seams when piecing?

a. So the finished sizes of your pieces come out accurate after sewing them together.

b. To compensate for the width of the thread and the fabric in the folded seam.

Question 3: How can you make sure you sew an accurate scant quarter inch seam allowance?

a. Get a micrometer that can measure thousandths of an inch.

b. Sew three 2 1/2" strips together and adjust your seam allowance until the middle piece ends up measuring 2".
