Spotlight on Sew Steady 2012: Winners Announced

Our goal is to improve your sewing experience by designing and building Sew Steady Extension Tables, Cabinet Inserts, and Sewing Accessories that are tailored to your machine and table.

Dream World, the makers of Sew Steady Tables was founded in 1994. It all began from the request of a local sewing instructor for her husband to make a table to fit around her machine. From that came the first custom fit Sew Steady Table and a classroom of sewers that all wanted one. Today we make tens of thousands of tables & inserts annually using one of the highest grades of acrylic available. Here's what users have to say:

  • “I just received one of your sew steady tables and had to write to tell you how much I LOVE it! The quality is superb! The fit is perfect! And the price was good! It's rare these days that something you order through a magazine is nicer in person than in the picture. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!”    - Leslie from Pennsylvania
  • "The table has made a great difference and I have been able to machine quilt without getting those tense muscles, making the whole thing so much easier." - Pat from the UK

As a beginning quilter with a new machine I'm starting to explore the possibilities.  I am excited about my new hobby as I begin sewing both charity quilts and gifts for family members.

My sewing space is limited, therefore, the addition of a Sew Steady extension table would give me the surface I need to manage the quilt tops and/or quilt sandwiches.

The Sew Steady also has a lot of space for all of those quilts that need room to rest on while sewing or quilting.  LOVE IT!

I have bought her a nice sewing machine but she doesn't have a cabinet or the extended space to sew. Sometimes her machine slips and she gets her seams wrong. This would be a wonderful thing for her to have. It would make her learning experience so much easier. I hope she will win this. She is very eager to learn.

I have a Sew Steady table for my Bernina 730, but I would REALLY love this new one for my Bernina 830. The circle kit would be fabulous for applique circles and the drawer would sure be great to keep my sewing area neat at all of the quilting retreats that I attend. These tables are so perfectly fitted to our machines and having the extra flat surface area really makes piecing large quilts so much easier. My new Bernina 830 doesn't fit in my sewing cabinet so to have this new table woud really be great at home to help with the large quilts that I put together. I know I would get more projects done at home, if I had this new table with the circle kit and drawer and i would definitely start bring the 830 to retreats if I had the extra help of this great new Sew Steady table.

I have one Sew Steady table and I had trouble remembering what sewing was like before it until I got another machine. I heavily rely on my table for quilting - it supports large blocks, borders and full size quilts - most of what I sew would not come out well if I did not have a table. It also doubles as my light table for tracing designs for applique & embroidery.

Since we have been having to renovate this old house so much, I have to move my plastic folding table around quite often to get out of the way of the renovation...I call it "insane rotation", lol--until this part of our chaotic lives is OVER, I have to sew 'wobbly', so I think this would help me keep stable...the remodeling is necessary due to the prior owner really ruining it, so the budget is geared to that, I would "sew: love to win it! My brain is in overdrive thinking of wonderful ways to use those since I love curvy piecing and quilting. Using it as a light box right at the sewing machine would be so helpful for applique.  Also it would be another cool tool to get my grandkids and neighbor kids hooked on sewing.  Thanks for offering such a great gift.

Winning a Sew Steady Table would be wonderful as I have very little flat space right now to use for quilting. I try to be an art quilter and this will help me learn to free motion better as it will give me more stability than I currently have. As for the circle kit, that would be awesome as I have several projects that need to start out as circles and this would really make the process easier, ie: apple core "stuff", boubounieres, etc.... Thanks for the great giveaways!

I have admired the Sew Steady tables for two years.   I got to try one while at a Quilting retreat.   I have arthritis and your table enables me to free motion quilt, move the fabric around easier and really lessened the tension in my neck and my eyes were even better.  I think the clearness of the table is so ideal as you can see below and access your bobbin without removing the table.  Doing applique was a breeze.   I was very pleased with how sturdy the table was and no shaking.  Sew Steady tables are a treat for today's quilting and sewing. .

The quilt hangs off my sewing machine on three sides and it's so heavy and hard to move around. I can usually stitch about 1/2-inch before I have to stop and adjust the quilt. I can't do any elaborate stitching, just random swirls because the quilt it so hard to move around in my current configuration. I know having a new sewing configuration will be perfect!

My mom and I both sew and I want to upgrade our equipment.   We are both left handed so setting up the sewing area can be a challenge.  Mom makes clothing items, pillows and other household items and I make doll clothing, handbags and craft items.  I really want to start machine quilting as my hand quilting is pretty amateur at best.  This Sew Steady Extension Table would  let us both take our sewing up a notch.

I've been eyeing a product like this for many, many years. I don't sew as much as used to but every time I get my machine out I think about this product. I learned to sew with a machine in a cabinet and thought a free arm machine was the best thing since sliced bread, but I missed having the larger surface to work on.

My all time favorite quilt was a gift on our 36 year wedding anniversary!! For our king size bed ,I made him a quilt that reaches to the floor on all 4 sides!! Now no cold can seep in from sides or feet & can tuck under pillows also.It also is used year round,Amazingly,it is warm & also seems to adjust to just the right temperature,so you never get too hot or cold.It is remarkable, almost like a {read your comfort level} but light weight,So,to say he was thrilled is an understatement!! With 16 grandchildren, one in ICU, 2 days old,I pray to win this & make my family many more quilts because they say my quilts hug them all night long. They love us & my quilts!!! OH, the hours I could save & the more I can sew!!!!Keep up the work & I thank you.

I've been quilting for aprox 6 years, and almost bought one of your tables from my Bernina dealer.  During the first two years I quilted, I had a long-arm available to me to quilt my own quilts.  I now travel with my machine and projects (am currently in Ecuador, soon to return to the States), and am frustrated no end trying to quilt even small quilts, because of the relatively small drop from my machine's table to the table it sits on.  No matter how careful I am, I'm always catching my project on the machine's table.  Having a Sew Steady platform would make all the difference in the world, and I could quilt doing more than stitch-in-the-ditch.  Thanks for your generosity in allowing us the opportunity to win one of your fantastic products.

As a veteran quilter, I know how important it is to have a table. I recently had surgery on both shoulders and transporting my large machine is difficult. As a beginner, I have so very much to learn! Within the last 6 years, I became disabled and was terrified that I would die of lonliness and boredom .  Someone back then, very wisely suggested I learn a new hobby, which I did. It was my salvation as I first picked-up painting, then knitting and crochet. I felt alive again, as not only was I was pretty things, but I was challenging my brain too. After the first couple of years, I began to wish I had learned to quilt (watching too much PBS I guess), but couldn't afford a sewing machine, so it was put on hold. Recently, I finally bought myself a sewing machine and am loving the challenge of learning how to use it. Now I am starting to feel like I have a life again and making tons of great new friends along the way! I'm starting my very first quilt and loving it! It may sound strange but I no longer feel less than everyone else. It's because of not only learning all these crafts but especially, I'm finally accomplishing something I never thought I could do. Winning this machine would deeply enhance this feeling of accomplishment, growth and the excitement and joy of learning a new, but difficult craft. I would be thrilled to own, learn and use this machine to enhance my quiltmaking.

The ability to extend the sewing area for me is a great chance to quilt my own quilts by having my machine on a table with a larger area than having my machine inside a cabinet that is up against a wall, making it impossible to quilt anything of any size.  The circle options would help add to my sewing skills and expand my horizons.

I'm just learning to quilt and there's never enough room, my fingers aren't experienced enough to be everywhere they have to be. I can see that this table would make such a huge difference.  For once I would have room enough to sew without drooping the fabric off the edge or side. As for the circle maker, I have not even attempted a circle or arc, OK I attempted one and we'll just leave it at, it wasn't pretty. Again, part of that was the too few fingers problem. Oh I have all ten, they don't yet function as a trained quilting unit.  I think it would be great to set my lighting so it was also under the clear table and give me a better look to see if the pieces of material were still lined up perfectly, like they were before I put the pins in and took them out.  I am learning just how important that 1/4 inch seam is, and I think this table might be one of the answers.

This Sew Steady table would make my life sew much easier by giving me a larger flat surface area that reduces drag on quilt tops while quilting but also reducing drag on large blocks and allowing an uncluttered layout area for staging the beginnings of blocks. And then, of course, there is the bonus of having favorite tools in the drawer, immediately available. And I've been wanting to turn some circles but don't have the tool. Adventure is calling me.

My goal for this year is to actually start machine quilting. To date, I have hand quilted several quilts and that process is so painstakingly slow that I long to start machine quilting. A Sew Steady table would really help me reach my goal as it would increase my work surface area. The circle kit would allow me to actually attempt to sew circles on one of the quilts on my bucket list.

I have started gathering the tools for my machine quilting adventure (darning foot, magic washers, teflon mat) and the extension table would complete it and I will no longer have an excuse not to start.

A Sew Steady extenion table will help me in my goal for this year: to learn how to machine quilt properly. I have hand-quilted several quilts and much as I love it, machine quilting would be so much easier.

The centering ruler and perfect circles quilt can make machine quilting easier, I hope and look forward to playing with my new gift :)

Winning the Sew Steady extension table will help me working with circle once and for all. I love to do circles of all kinds but I never seem to create anything but ovals. The Sew Steady would also give me much needed work surface for doing larger quilts and wallhangings that I usually do by hand or send out to a quilter. Thank you for allowing me to win this wonderful addition to my sewing studio.

Oh! This would be fantastic. I do love my trusty Brother but for some reason the part that you put the fabric on (where this would replace) moves around all the time! It is not a steady base & my stitches get a bit wonky due to this (and my cat...I swear, it's all her!) What a great invention!!!

I currently have my sewing machine setting on a 18" x 14" stand on wheels that allows my machine to move as I sew, either the wheeling stand itself or the sewing machine on the stand.  It would be so awesome to be able to sit and sew and not have to chase my sewing machine around the room in the process. Plus, I would be able to get my husband to build me the craft and sewing room that he has been promising if I had something like the Sew Steady table to put in it.

I have seen other quilters with these Sew Steady tables and noticed how much they support the fabric when you are quilting which gives such great results.  Not having a sewing room or sewing table - I quilt on the dining room table - this would give me a much larger area to work with.  Having recently retired, our budget is a little tighter so winning one of these tables would be a dream come true!  The circle maker is very intriguing.

All I can say is WOW!  This would really enhance my sewing time and results.  I currently sew on Lifetime tables and find that the fabric sometimes pulls toward the left because there is no support just beyond the sewing machine surface area.  I'm considering ordering one as it would be so helpful, but would love to win one as I could buy more fabric with the money I would save by winning one!  Awesome giveaway!!

After just a little sewing, our backs ache and it's worse when assembling the blocks for the quilt and binding. If win, then perhaps could tackle some machine quilting too. Both my mother and I have physical challenges, and always looking for something to help with our quilting. Now, the circle gadget would be wonderful. This Sew Steady Table will allow me to do the applique quilts I have been wanting to try.  I have stayed away from them because they have circles and I do not have enough steadiness in my hands to turn a smooth circle.  I love the size of this table along with the drawer to keep the small items within reach yet off the floor and out of the way of the project I am working on.

The Sew Steady looks like it would help in many different ways. would give more work space, and circles have never done any. Taught myself sort of. My first quilt I made was a queen size. Started smaller, my husband said wasn't big enough so ended up queen. This is a great love it.

Okay, so here's the thing.  I LOVE circles no matter from what direction you see them --  mathematically, geometrically, spiritually, emotionally, aesthetically -- they are the perfect form.  And therein lies the problem.  I am not the perfect quilter.  Seems like no matter how hard I try, my machine and I cannot quilt a perfect circle.  Your nifty little table with the centering ruler was invented with me in mind.  Thank you for curing my circlephobia without the necessity of years of costly psychotherapy!

I attend many quilt-retreats, and the sew steady table would be a blessing, since my sewing table is too bulky to tote along with me. The sew steady table would give me a larger area to rest my fabric on while sewing, so the weight of the fabric won't pull against me trying to sew a straight seam.

'd love to win because I have limited space and it would be wonderful to extend the workable area of my sewing machine.  I'd put extra bobbins, needles, seam ripper, small scissors, tape measure and my little cleaning brush and duck feathers in the drawer so I could see and find them more easily.  It would raise up my sewing project off the table and it would be at the same height as my machine's sewing bed.  What a time saver for making my quilts and clothing!

I am a beginning quilter. I have been quilting about a year. My friend got me started and she has been quilting all of her life and has about every quilting tool and several machines, even a long-arm. Quilting with her was incredibly fun. Unfortunately, she had to move away to be with her family. Now I'm trying to continue on my own. My main sewing machine is an old Kenmore, I have a 30 year old Viking, and my tools are limited. I can't afford to buy a new machine and lots of fancy tools, so I'm doing the best I can with what I've got. I think the Sew Steady table would be wonderful to use with my Viking. I'm trying to make fun quilts for all of my grandchildren. I have two out of 10 completed.  It is so difficult to machine quilt a twin or a queen quilt on my small extension table. I would LOVE this new Sew Steady table.

But now I have a great machine that threads for me. After making quilts by hand, a lot of years ago, I'm now learning to machine quilt. A lot of different challenges! Like trying to keep a sewing line straight when the quilt keeps falling to one side. Hmmmm.... how about an extension table? And the Perfect Cicle kit? Wow! I am in the middle of my first quilt in more than 20 years and I fell in love with a cathedral window rag pattern. Circles, circles, circles! With all these great patterns, quilting (at least at my age) has become a equipment hobby! But without the right equipment, it can be very frustrating at times. But I love quilting!

I just joined the "Quilers Club of America" as a beginner in quilting, I took a class in our local quilting shop after attending the Sisters Quilt show; and I have made 3 quilts so far, but I have my sewing machine I received as a gift sitting one of those old metal sewing tables used many years ago in typing classes, I am lucky I have one that has the panel that flips up on each end. My big problem is that my sewing area is upstairs and when I sew this table rattles a lot, and it has a tendacy to "walk" across the room too, I find myself constantly scooting my chair along with the table, thank goodness my chair has wheels! But I am happy I have a sewing machine and I could afford the classes that got me started in the fun of quilting, so many fabrics and colors too. oh don't get me started~  I suppose you can imagine how excited I would be to win this  Sew Steady Table and,oh, how much more I could do, and it would make my quilting experience even more fun, and a WHOLE lot easier too! I'll keep my fingers crossed, can't cross my toes, I need them for scooting my chair to the table. It will be hard to wait for the drawing.

I have a "small" work space-have only been quilting 3mths and am already a "fabriholic". Hubby has larger space, more/extra tables.  We looked at sew steady tables at quilt guild show in Indiana a few months back.  I think having one would increase capability in my space and help hold weight of fabric when quilting so that there is less pull on thread and needle-seems as if it would help me create a more professional project more easily and maybe in less time with less stress on my wrists and arms.????

The first time I took a free motion class was about 2 yrs ago. I was a beginner quilter and tried to quilt the top of a table runner on my own. Well I thought it looked so awful, that I took the whole thing out and drew straight lines to chris cross instead. Personally, I think it is boring.

This is the second time I have taken a free motion class, however, this time I am hooked. I am currently working  on a lap quilt for my husband.  I practiced some stitches and have begun quilting  my first free motion quilt top all by myself.  The extension table would have been so helpful to glide the fabric in order to create those beautiful 0's and stipples. I know my stippling would have had more curves and less points to it if I had an extension table like the one you are offering.

I have one of the older models.  No frills.  But I love it!  Recently I added the little swing-out tray, which is great for holding extra needles, bobbins, seam ripper, seam gauge, etc. etc.  But I like the addition of the Drawer and the Centering Ruler and Perfect Circles Kit.  I would love to own this new version of the Sew Steady Table!

Winning this  Sew Steady Deluxe 18x24 Drawer Table with Centering Ruler & Perfect Circles Kit would make my quilting life sew much easier! It would provide a large work space making projects sew much faster to complete especially when free motion quilting.  I would love this!

I have a very limited space for my Janome MC11000SE sewing/embroidery machine.  I have been eyeing the Sew Steady table but being on a fixed income I can not afford it.  This table would help with quilting, embroidery and just about everything else that I do in my sewing/embroidery craft.  Also the circle feature is great..  Thanks

Wow, I've dreamed of having one of these for years. Now that I've become disabled, It would help improve my sewing time. I may even be able to sew for longer than 15 minutes at a time on my good days. It would help with controlling the fabrics and I wouldn't feel like I'm fighting with it (and it's winning!). It truly would be a dream come true to finally have such a wonderful sewing help.

Oh man, this would help me so much.  I have MG(myasthenia Gravis) and my arms get so weak trying to move my quilt under my machine in quilting.  I really struggle to pull it up and over my machine bed.  Would absolutly love to have something like this to keep the quilt level.

Sewing is just so much easiery when you have a larger flat space.

I just finished a quilt top with positive/negative circles and backgrounds in a checkerboard pattern.  This would have made it so much easier to prepare the circles for appliqueing since I did not do the raw edge applique.  I sewed a basting line 1/8th inch in from the edge of the background pieces and 1/8th inch in from the edge of the circles.  Then I snipped all the way around and then I turned the edge under and sewed it down with a hemstitch.  It would have been much easier to use this tool, please save me from doing it ever again.  Thank you.

I am a fairly new quilter (just over two years), but have been longing for a table like this to help me with the art quilts I am learning to make. Having only the arm of the machine upon which to rest the fabric limits the designs I can try. This product is just what I need to move up to the next stage of my quilting adventure!

The Sew Steady table looks as though it would help keep your fabric straighter when sewing. Would be great to try it!

I'm a newbie and have injured my wrist "fighting" the quilt due to lack of space ( the quilt kept slipping off the table). This extension will help remediate that issue.  Would love to get my hand on one.

I've been using the Sew Steady table I bought for my Janome Platinum Gem. I really wish I had a similar table for my larger machine especially with the new storage system. The seam guide would be so helpful in keeping my stitching straighter. I'm very impressed with the improvements this company has made to a great product.

Since I joined up with qnn.com my hotmail account is no longer active so I can be reached at sbeyer@sbcglobal.net.

Last year I learned to free motion quilt on my home machine.  A Sew Steady table would be a great addition to my "sewing corner" to help me with those larger projects.  The twin size quilt I did last year was rather difficult with just my ironing board holding the bulk.

For my featherweight:  it would be so nice to have a larger space to lay the fabric when I am using the featherweight without its table (do you know how heavy that thing is to take somewhere?).  We girls often get together to sew and the Sew Steady would be awesome to use and my arm would not get so tired trying to manuver fabric.

This table would be a wonderful asset for my quilting.  The larger surface is just what I need.  I have just completed piecing 5 quilts for each of my 5 grandchildren.  Now I need to quilt them.  I would love to win this table.
