The quilt you see here is a pattern from Peggy J. Barkle's Blendable Curves Book. It is called a Curvaceous Log Cabin. This is the most fun that I have had making a quilt. The fabrics are batiks in hot pinks and golds. The finished block size is 11 1/2" x 11 1/2" and the quilt is a queen size measurement.

Once again, I had the quilt quilted by Debby McCraken of Castlegar, B.C. who did a beautiful job of quilting it with a tone on tone pink thread that just agreed with the pink and the gold fabric. Debby did an overall quilting pattern that incorporated both the curves and points, but the curves and points were soft curves and rounded.

I named this quilt "My Hot and Spicy Dream Quilt", and of course there is a story behind this. I had originally chosen very conservative colours in rusts and green etc., but for some reason, I wanted to sleep on the choice of colours that I selected, so I decided to wait another day to pick up the fabric that I had set aside. Anyway, that night I had a dream of the quilt colours and in my dream I had chosen hot pink and golds.....and the next morning I thought, "How weird is that?" When I went to the quilt store to pick up my fabric, I told the owner of the store about my dream of colours and immediately she said, "That is not so weird!", and she enthusiastically started pulling out bolts of hot pink and gold batiks and "Voila" here is my Hot and Spicy Dream Quilt.

Here is another shot of it at the Grand Forks Quilt Show:

She loves butterflies, so I incorporated embroidered butterflies, framed them and put them in a log-cabin design with her favorite colors.

I also made her a pillow to finish the set. She loved it.

Here's a process shot:
