My family & I had the good fortune to be transferred to Europe while we were in the Air Force and had a fantastic 4 years of travel and education. Just about every place we visited, I always purchased a badge of the city, etc. Of course, after a few years (actually quite a few!) I found them in my sewing room and decided to put them on a quilt so when I looked at the quilt I could always remember. Then I took some of the badges off my husband's jackets and sewed them on also. Then I went into the computer and printed the letters I needed for "Marville, France" and "Lahr, Germany" and appliqued them down each side.
I won first prize for this wall hanging and now I take it to Arizona with me every year to display at our annual Luncheon that is held in Yuma for our "Retired RCAF" (Royal Canadian Air Force) people. When some of the "old guys" see some of the badges they remember when they went to that place also. It's just a great conversation piece. I'll send more pictures later.
