"Garden Splendor" by Mary Ann

This is a wall quilt I just finished about 48" square for my sister Theresa.  I call it "Garden Splendor".   It will look beautiful in her bedroom.  I used a 30 degree triangle ruler to do the center medallion.  The other blocks are just four patches.  This completes my three-year mission to make something new for each of my 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

Mary Ann,

Your quilt is beautiful.  I like the kaleidascope effect it has. Lovely gift.

Very pretty quilt.  I love the colors.

Did you make quilts for all 9 of your siblings or different things for each of them?

Amazing! I love to see new quilt patterns they inspire me to be more creative. I love your use of color and fabric pattern to make you quilt design. If you did this great with all your other brothers and sisters quilts I am sure they will always treasure them and not just because they are from you. If you are ever in need of another quilt pattern that is unique and creative or just some inspiration I found a great website that you can even download quilt patterns but kits, just about everything. The site is http://www.toadusew.com.

Mary Ann, beautiful wall quilt.  Love the colors you used.  The center medallion is soo pretty, and also the 4 patch surrounding blocks.  Kudos to you.

Very pretty!  Is that sort of like a stack-and-whack?  Were all the four-patch blocks all cut from the same fabric using different flowers from that print as the focal point?  Clever!

Mary Ann, this is lovely. "Just four-patches"? Those are beautifully planned fussy-cut four-patches that set off the center medallion perfectly.

Beautiful workmanship!  As for "just 4-patches", I agree with Judy Johnson--thoroughly planned, just-exactly-so four-patches.  This will be such a lovely addition to your sister's room.

Lovely pink colors!  You've accomplished what I'm just starting--make a quilt item for every member of my family.  Where to start?--oldest to youngest and I'm setting no time limit.  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for all your wonderful comments.  I made something diffrent for each of my 5 sisters and 4 brothers.   Mostly wall quilts.   It was special made to suit their home and what they like.    Some gave me hints and other left it up to me.   When I found the perfect fabric & pattern for someone, that is the one I worked on next.  Agnes wanted a southwest style and send me photos of her bedroom so I could match colors; it's quilted with eagle feathers.   Each quilt was so unique to the person that most would not want to trade with the other.  Except for Bill's quilt.  I made him a bed quilt in blacks, browns, golds and creams.   String quilt pattern.   I did get in trouble for that.  All I heard was "why does Bill get a bed quilt".    Yes, the four patches were fussy cut  from the same fabric as the center medallion.   We hung this quilt last week and it really brightens her room.   Happy Quilting, Mary Ann.
