In the May/June issue of Quiltmaker, you'll find Part 1 of Secret Window, a new mystery quilt designed by Debbie Caffrey. We're pleased to announce our first-ever Quilt-Along so you'll have some friendly camaraderie as you work on this project.
- Sandi Delman
I'd like to introduce you to Sandi Delman, the enthusiastic QM reader who will be hosting the Quilt-Along. Sandi has made quilts from dozens of Quiltmaker patterns over the years. She's an experienced sewer and a friendly gal, and you'll enjoy her tips, tricks and easy writing style.
The Quilt-Along will take place in the Quiltmaker Quilt-Along Group over on Quilters Club of America. You can read more about QCA in this blog post. There is a wealth of information over at QCA and it's all totally free! You can just poke around if you like, or if you want to participate (leave comments, post photos, make friends) you can register on QCA, which is fast and free.
Sandi will be making her Secret Window with batiks from Hoffman California Fabrics.
Three QM staff members will also be making Secret Window in various color recipes.
- Carolyn Beam
Carolyn is Creative Editor for QM.
Carolyn is using Bella by Possibilities for Quilting Treasures. Her palette is called “Spa.”
- Denise Starck
Denise is QM's Graphic Designer.
Denise chose Simple Pleasures by Debbie Beaves for RJR Fabrics. This palette is called “Summer.”
- Paula Stoddard
Paula is an Associate Editor for QM.
Paula is working with Winterberry Lane by Whimsicals for Red Rooster Fabrics. This palette is called “Christmas.”
But wait! There's more! Sandi is making a second version of Secret Window and sharing it on her personal blog, kwiltnkats.blogspot.com. Another great color recipe!
You'll need a copy of the May/June issue of Quiltmaker; materials list is on page 50. If you're a subscriber, your issue is on its way. If you need to purchase it, it will appear on newsstands by April 12, or you can order it here.
Dig into your stash for Secret Window fabrics, or order our convenient kits!
Christmas Kit is not yet available; we expect it by mid-April.
So mosey on over to QCA and the Quiltmaker Mystery Quilt-Along Group. Check out the group's discussions, make some new friends, and let's get sewing! And while we're at it, if you want to participate and you need the issue, leave a comment here by midnight, Friday, April 8 and I'll pick a random winner for a complimentary copy!
