Blogging is a new thing for me and certainly starting my own is rather intimidating...but about a week ago a dear little lady in the guild brought me her HUGE Tupperware container for making pickles...she also brought the pickling lime, pickling spices and the recipe for Old South Sweet Pickles. At the guild Christmas party last year I had commented on her great pickles; so she put me into the kitchen on a new endeavor! The recipe has definitely been out for a while...it takes about 5 days from start to bottling...and then they must sit for some time before they are really pickled. So even after all the fussing, cutting, rinsing, soaking, boiling, sterilizing and (more!) soaking, packing and sealing I haven’t had even a smidgen of taste! But being in the kitchen thinking pickles, working pickles and definitely SMELLING pickles; got me thinking of something I have always wanted to make...a Pickle Dish Quilt. It may be that this dear lady really set me on the path of pickle dish quilting....I’m going to try to clear out some things from the studio and pull out some stash and make fabric pickles this summer! I’m hoping that by the time the pickles are ready to taste I will have ONE pickle dish ready?!.... J Any lovers of Old South Sweet Pickles or Pickle Dish Quilts out there?
