Modern Sunbonnet Sue's Musings

Musings from the mind of a modern day Sue:
Marquette Show Quilts

As promised, here are pictures of quilts from the Marquette County Quilters' Association Autumn Comforts 2012 Quilt Show.

This lovely quilt was the first one viewers saw as they stepped into the display hall. The Bunny In My Garden by Sally Zimmer of Bark River, MI, also received a first place ribbon in the machine applique category.

This fabulous Hawaiian applique was made by the MCQA featured quilter, Rosemary Glenn. It was so large, that it was folded over at the bottom.

This is one of my favorite quilts from the show. Animals in the Woods was a mixed technique quilt using both needle turn and fused applique, painting and embellishments. The quiltmaker is Karen Lawton from Dunbar, WI.

This Judy Niemeyer design was made by a quilting friend of mine, Cynthia Yackel, of Marquette. She paper pieced Stepping Stones from two Cappuccino Bali Pops.

This was a striking Storm at Sea made by Janet Crotteau from Cumberland, WI.

There were three of these Sylvia's Bridal Sampler quilts.

Tucson by Dottie Marine. This quilt has 35 appliqued blocks depicting images of Arizona.

I hope you enjoyed these quilts as much as I did. I'll follow up with a few of my favorite art quilts on display.
