Be Thankful for Friends

Since my car accident 4 years ago, I have survived because of my friends here in Arizona. Moving back home to Ohio and becoming a shut-in, I discovered that my old friends were no longer...I don't know how to put it into words. They were happy to hear from me, come on over, oh you can't drive, gee that's too bad. I've never heard from them again. That has been hurtful and I've had to try to move on to make new friends. Not easy when you are a shut-in. They were really good friends in the past...that's the past. As one of my best friends told me, when I moved away she had to make new friends too. God works in mysterious ways tho. One day I was on the internet and came across QCA. What a lifesafer you wonderful folks have been! And I'm making quilty friends too!

For Christmas I received a devotional from my Secret Sister called Whispers of Friendship. I would like to share today's with you called "Be Thankful for Friends":    Dear God, thank You for my friends. Help me not to take them for granted...Remind me often how poor my life would be without the friends You've given me. Help me to enrich their lives as they have mine. Amen.

Thank you friends for all the encouragement, thoughts, prayers, and even criticism (I may not always take it well, but probably deserve it. I get over it.). Without you I would be depressed and lonely. With you I feel alive, more creative, more energetic, and ready to move ahead with this new year. So let's get those machines going! Get ready, get set, GO!!!!

I can relate to being pretty much a shut-in and finding out who your true friends really are. I had a bar/restauraunt and had to shut it, because of health reasons / economy. i have major problems with muscle issues and can barely walk. ended up on total disability.  all the people that claimed to be the good friends sure didn't stick around . so i found this site and really enjoy it. and i have finally gotten back into sewing after being away for quite a few years.

Linda, I too understand what you are saying. I however have not gotten thru it all yet. Moving back to OH from TN left me with no friends, but I do have relatives, but none who can fill the "friends" spot. They have to work and I am at home caring for family. I want friends, but it is hard to trust they will really uinderstand me and my situation. Most don't sew or have common interests. I will however, keep on going because of the friendships I have made here on QCA. Your an inspiration, Linda! You survived your accident to go on helping others....and you certainly do!!! Hugs, and may this year be a year of less pain and more enjoyment for you!!
