I'm finding I'm better at doing than writing about it
Okay, so June was full and wonderful, and here I am almost throught the first week of our summer session at school. I thought I'd stop and take a look at what I accomplished last month... besides relaxing and enjoying myself immensely! Here's where I am at in my goal to catch up and clean out...
Made an acorn themed crazy vest for a teacher who is moving away.
Quilted a batik quilt that I had previously assembled. It turned out lovely, I think. I purchased my longarm a year and a half ago, and each time I use it, I try to stretch to some new technique or pattern. This time I did freeform sun designs and seashell patterns in some of the areas. I was pleased!
Quilted the (don't laugh) tree quilt I have had stashed for years. I had made 9 of the 12 applique trees from the 2001 (I think) Piecemakers calendar. Actually I had started the rest, too, but I gave myself permission to use the 9 I had done, and assembled with setting corners. I added free motion quilting to accent the blocks, and in the open squares I quilted a tree design. I am very happy with it.
Made two quilt tops from the summer before last, when the local shop hosted a "strip" club. It feels so good to have those projects out of the closet, assembled, and onto the "to quilt" pile.
Finished the rest of the needleturn applique blocks for this year's block of the month book club at a local quilt shop. Now that feels REALLY good! I have this month's pieced blocks to go, then I will arrange it all on my design wall and put it together. Yay!
I have started a small pieced and appliqued "Create" wall hanging. It is a cute pattern I got at a store in Ankeny, IA, where my niece works.
Made two fun little "doggies" that my granddaughter designed. Both granddaughter and grandson picked out their fabrics and helped me stitch. So cute!
Made pillows for our patio furniture. Thanks, Joann's for the sale on outdoor canvas fabrics and the perfect colors.
I think that's it for now. Summer session takes up my mornings, and it's tough to focus my energy by the time I get home. But I still have Fridays off; I can't wait to head up to the sewing room then!
